Hong Kong actor-singer Nicholas Tse announced his decision to temporarily take a break from the Hong Kong music industry.

After the Hong Kong actor-singer Nicholas Tse’s 10-year contract with Emperor Entertainment Group ends this year, the actor announced his decision to temporarily take a break from the music scene. “I have decided that I will not be releasing any albums in future. If I were to leave Emperor Entertainment Group, I will take a six months to one year break and not do anything.”

Apart from that, the singer also expressed his dissatisfaction with the current music industry in Hong Kong. Nicholas frankly commented that he is no longer suited to be in the music industry and admitted that he is no longer capable of fitting in with the current music scene.

“Years ago, you have to sell at least 100,000 copies of an album before you are eligible to perform at the Hong Kong Coliseum. Nowadays, some singers attain hit songs with just one album and they announce the decision to hold a personal concert at the Hong Kong Coliseum the very next day. I am unable to survive in such a music industry..”

Despite his admissions, the singer confessed that singing is still a source of his main income and shared that he will continue performing onstage even with no new album releases. Nicholas is currently caught up in the midst of filming a new movie which also features Jacky Cheung and Daniel Wu.

perhaps now but his acting in twin brother sucks big time (the last drama i saw of him). he was STIFF like a wood .. can't act at all. guess his acting improved and his singing sunk .. lol regardless, i feel he's still below average overall.

my opinion is... if he really love music and have the passion for it, he should continues to produce albums... forget what others do... why have to be so uptight??? although what he said is partially true... but then he really can not compare the album sales... back then, there was no such thing called "downloading"... so it is easier to have high album sales... but now, it is harder...although the status for gold and platinum is so ridiculous now...therefore, can not just use album sales as a qualification to hold concerts in the coliseum...although i do agree there are some singers holding concerts in the coliseum way too much...to me, in order to qualify to have concerts in the coliseum....a singer must achieve high album sales, enough and decent amount of good songs (don't have be hit songs), popularity, and the status that people agree he/she is ready and qualify to sing in the coliseum. if he doesn't like how the music industry is functioning right now, then just ignore it. he doesn't have to go to award ceremony, radio show, and other functions...just put out a good album, hold autograph signing, and have concert tours....remember, all these are for your fans... fans that support him... many singers are doing this... why cant he do the same is he is a real singer/musician... why be a loser and quit just because he thinks he doesn't fit in such a music industry... i think he is just making up excuses for himself that he is no longer into music. by the way, his latest mandarin album sucks big time... and it is ironic because it received high album sales...thanks to his crazy, loyal fans...and this statement does not only apply to him, but other singers too...
