Nick Cheung was a guest on Home Sweet Home, hosted by Lawrence Cheng. He said the best thing that happened to him during his time in the entertainment industry is to meet Esther Kwan. Nick said he was attracted to her then: "It was rare to see such a beautiful woman, so I boldly pursue, I didn't expect Esther to accept when I asked her out. At that time the future looked doubtful: no fame, no money and no prospects. I reminded her to consider carefully before accepting me, unexpectedly Esther gave me a lot of confidence, she said no one could say for certain that I wouldn't have a chance in the future."

After their wedding they wanted a baby, but Esther had two miscarriages which was a great blow to them. Nick said: "I was filming in Shanghai when the first miscarriage happened, I was so heartbroken I secretly cried after work. Several months later Esther was pregnant again, although we were very careful, she still had another miscarriage. To avoid giving my wife too much pressure, I hid in the rear staircase to cry. Now we have our beloved daughter, we will not spoil her but our line of sight remains focused on her." Nick has already thought about his daughter growing up and one day getting married, he said he plans to tell his future son-in-law: "You absolutely must not bully my daughter."

Nick is nominated Best Actor at Hong Kong Film Awards for his role in The Beast Stalker, he talked about his road to become an actor and jokingly said: "When I was young I already knew how to lie and deceive my mother, this proved I have the cells for acting. I grew up at Shek Kip Mei housing complex, I held the hands of foreign tourists and asked for money after they took pictures. After junior high school, I applied to enter the police force, but I resigned when I couldn't change to become a CID, eventually I worked behind the scenes for Danny Lee's (李修賢) movies."

Later Nick won Danny's appreciation, he became an actor and entered ATV. He said although he was the male lead, he didn't see any future, even after he switched to TVB it was still unsatisfactory. He then left for South Africa and worked as a waiter and even planned to stay there. Nick continued: "Later I returned to Hong Kong because my sister was very sick, at this time I got the opportunity to film TVB's Secret of the Heart (天地豪情) and gained some popularity. Then Barry Wong (王晶) invited me to film a movie, fortunately the most difficult days were finally over."
