my friend told me about NJStar Communicator the other day & i think it's really good so i thought i'd share this with you guys here at PA ^^ NJStar is a program that lets you read & type chinese, japanese, or korean using pinyin (拼 音 ). before, my computer couldn't display chinese characters & i couldn't write them either. but using NJStar Communicator, i could read & write chinese using pinyin. [= i thought it was pretty cool so i would like to share this with you guys. you don't have to buy any software or anything too. i downloaded a trial, sorta. you could download the 30 day trial here: www.NJStar.com ^^ this program even shows chinese song names & artists on windows media player..& WINAMP also, i think.. it has simplified & traditional chinese as well. it has a toolbar at the bottom of your screen & when you type chinese characters, you could see them on the toolbar. you can type chinese characters on IM's & e-mails. NJstar shows the chinese characters in your song titles instead of little squares or question marks. i hope this post was helpful to you guys. =D
yeah njstar is pretty good alternaltively, you could just install the asian languages with windows, and you can read/write simplified/traditional chinese characters anyway =) and since you already have windows, you don't have to purchase the product after the trial =P
njstar communicator is a nice addition if it is not a shareware but I am comfortable to use the version that comes free with windows. BTW, the new version of WinAMP can now support unicode. If you already have add the asian languages to your windows, you can display them on WinAMP.
lol this language pack for the computer was already installed when i brought mine I use pinyin to type chinese too...but it's hard ><
If you could get a copy of Q9 XP Big5 Pro. This is the easiest program to write Chinese. 3 options to select input, pinyin and stroke input. If you know how to write Chinese (the stroke sequence to write the word) then strike input is the easiest way to get the required Chinese word. All Chinese words will require a maximum of 3 mouse clicks. Using the number keypad on the right of the keyboard. After the mouse clicks a list of words will displayed, select the required Chinese word and the program will paste on your word document. Example from here. http://www.asiazest.com/q920tradchin.htm
yeah, twinbridge. but that's old-school, with floppies and stuff. I have a mini writing tablet that saves me a lot of the trouble. it even supports hk slang words, but all the pronunciations are in zhuyin/pinyin.
I use to install NJStar Communicator on computers. It doesn't convert IE title bars :( NJStar can input via several pingyin methods, cantonese being one of them.
a version of chinese windows xp will work as well, but NJ star wworks good with other versions of windows. We use a tablet to write chinese on a NL version of windows, works great, you just have to buy one (in hong kong, i did).
