On March 25, Ada Choi (蔡少芬) underwent a Caesarean section and gave birth to her second daughter Zhang Xiner (張信兒) who weighed 8 lbs. and 12 ounces. Wearing a cap and scarf to possibly hide her swelling, Ada left the hospital yesterday in an energetic mood accompanied by her husband Max Zhang (張晉) and manager. Her manager passed out chocolate Easter bunnies to the waiting press. Printed on the gift bags were their new daughter’s birth date and weight. Ada said, “I had a Caesarean section, because from the experiences of giving birth to my first daughter, I realized I can’t play this game anymore. Last time, I couldn’t give birth for 12 hours, so I asked the doctor for an operation right away this time.” Ada revealed that the reason for a second child is so their elder daughter can have a playmate. During the birth procedure, only half of Ada’s body was anesthetized, so she was able to witness her baby entering the world. Ada wanted to enjoy each moment, even if it was painful. Max stood right beside her and captured the entire process with a camcorder. He once again cut his daughter’s umbilical cord. Max mentioned that their second daughter bears a great resemblance to their first daughter, Zoe (張楚兒). “Zoe is very caring and protective towards her sister. She only allows Max and I to hold her. Her auntie was hit when she wanted to hold the baby,” Ada said. In order to breastfeed the newborn, Ada will be taking a break before heading back to work. Max had chosen the names for their two daughters. “The word ‘xin’, (信) means to have confidence, to have confidence in God. The word ‘er’ (兒) is also related to God, meaning she is God’s daughter as well as the daughter of the Zhang family, and it’s the same as our first daughter’s,” Max said. To reward his wife for her efforts, Max will continue working hard this year. He exclaimed that three ladies in the household are enough, and they are not planning for more children. Creds: Ming Pao
