What do you think? I personally think its weird listening to stuff like that in chinese. But I think its great that they are breaking free from that "being different is bad" thing.

i'd rather hear chinese hip hop in chinese rather than them doing it in a FOB english style. but if they do it in dmx and lil john's tone it just sounds funny and dumb haha...

Hip Hip in China is going to be the Gangsta Rap of the PRC, with political ramifications that goes way beyond style or musicology. Much like how urban conditions in the US molded certain antisocial rap lyrics, the potential for quickly spreading syncopated messages of discontent will eventually see the PRC banning songs and shuttering web sites. Or, let's put it this way, I wonder how "Cop Killer" sounds in Mandarin? :punk:

^lol and yea the subject matter gotta be grittier and more conscious like the underground stuff or something like nas or common back a while ago (fuck kanye, he's too full of himself nowadays), most of the shit i heard is like you go into my hood, i'll kill you and something along of repeating the lines of fight, fight, fight for 70% of the song. gotta be fresh yo and not bite off 50 cent.

    what about rock! lol

hip hop....what about a mix of hip hop & rock? like JayZ did w/ Linkin Park....

rock is hard to be in the mainstream in Asia.....the market is limited..........i really got bored by Chinese music sometimes, melodies are pretty much the same, except the lyrics.

  8. lol wtf... that lil chinese kid.. he's like the chinese arron carter..

  12. well, music is universal and if the chinese want to adopt the american hip hop style i don't see why they can't as long as they stay within their own language barriers....
