In the aviation industry, it is all about payload and capacity utilization.
Transporting these obese folk with the same ticket price as normal folk is just not profitable.
They should introduce an obesity tax since they will require more space and will plunder half the food on the plane -evil

And if we talk about air-safety, they are really a risk-factor.
If something happens, they can block the escape routes!!!

Every disavantage has it's advantage, if an stewardess is standing next to an obese person, it makes her even more sexy -devil

If we were to really treat this as a fairness situation, then airlines would charge your passage by the pound for everyone; their equation would be to determine how much it costs to transport one pound a certain distance, and then have the passenger get on a scale. Everyone uses a proportion of aircraft fuel (the airlines greatest expense) according to his or her weight, the obese obviously uses a lot more, perhaps two or three times that of another passenger. Should that pay more? In my view, yes.

I envision that one of these days, when you and your family go to the airport with your luggage, the floor space on your side of the ticket counter will actually be a hidden scale (much like the ones used in weigh stations for tractor-trailers). Your total weight in terms of flesh, bone, luggage, gifts, etc (in effect, everything that you're asking the carrier to lift into the air) will enter the computer which then multiplies it against the average price of fuel for the day. You'll then be charged according to that combination. Inotherwords, the price of air travel will fluctuate according to weight and daily fuel costs. That's about the only fair and consistent way to do it. -lol

Too complicated to execute in real life. So due to feasibility, the airliners are calculating the fair by the weight of an average person. And there for also design the plane seats, meal, etc for an AVERAGE person.
The above AVERAGE person will have some trouble -bigsmile

Too complicated? I shouldn't think so. You already have to stop at the ticket counter just to check in; and voila, it's done (all of the above by computer) which then charges your credit card. You sign the credit slip, get your boarding pass and go. At least it won't be as complicated as putting all your metal things and shoes onto a conveyor belt to be XRayed and then passing through a door sized sensor with some security guy wanding or patting down EVERY passenger, and you then having to gather up all your loose change and belt and shoes again, and put everything away again.

Inotherwords, the public already tolerates a much more complicated process. The weigh in station would be a snap. The technology is already there, if they chose to do that, what's to stop them? -unsure

As for the other, ahem... 'oversized' luggage problem; the airlines could create special handicap floor space, with special seating for those who are morbidly obese.

  20. haha this its actully so stupid.. and the canadian airlines gonna get screwed over with so many obese people :p
