If you are a fan of, or enjoy wuxia, please come in here to discuss about your favorite novels, series, characters, and anything else related to the topic. For those who do not know what "wuxia" is, here is a detailed description & background information provided by wikipedia: For more information, please click on the following link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wuxia Some hollywood examples would include "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon", "Hero", and "House of Flying Daggers". Of course, there are many other examples, but I especially chose these as they are most popular. Some common, famous, Chinese series adaptations include "Legend of the Condor Heroes", "Heavenly Sword Dragon Sabre", "Wong Fei Hung", or one of the more recent ones, "Lethal Weapons of Love and Passion". Since many of you are TVB fans, I think these titles will sound at least somewhat familiar to you.
Ohh so that's where you got your "location". I was wondering what that meant since I'm not chinese. -^_^ Jet Li's "Fearless" is considered wuxia also right? I liked that movie. Wong Fei Hung is cool too. I liked the adaptation with Bosco Wong haha.
So in short, is it basically 古裝 drama/movies? Olden-costume styled movies that have those guys with long hair who fly around and do martial arts? I was too lazy to read the entire definition ....
Yes, Fearless is considered Wuxia. As I said, there are many other examples, I just chose certain ones that I felt most people would be familiar with, and Fearless wasn't one that popped into my head at the moment. -sweat Don't be stupid. <_< Yeah, I guess you can define it that way. The definition that I provided was a bit more in-depth, but I think you get the idea.
For prettiest...I vote for Xiao Long Nu....'95 version =P My favorite character is Yang Guo...cause he forgives all that does him wrong, and defies all rules that don't make sense =P Who is the sweeper monk? I thought Dugu Qiubai was supposed to be the most powerful...
i think i'd vote for 小龍女 too... even tho i haven't read the complete set of 神鵰俠侶... for guys i like 小魚兒 in 古龍's 絕代雙驕 coz he's really cheeky and clever and funny... -blush2
this thread is confusing me...and check this out...its the translated version of 神鵰俠侶, lots of detail http://wuxiapedia.com/novels/index/divine_eagle_gallant_knight
nah... i vote based on the novels i've read not what i saw on TV... in fact... i hardly watch the TV series coz it's annoying when i find them combining characters an scenes to shorten the whole thing...
Anyone have any pictures of Liu Yi Fei as Tieu Long Nu? I heard a lot of people praising her looks in ROCH, but I haven't had the chance to check it out myself. Personally, I find Carmen the most prettiest Tieu Long Nu.
YES!! Wondergirl has good taste in women! =P I haven't seen ROCH'06 yet, but to me, Liu Yi Fei looks a little too young for the part. She is actually quite decently hot, but just not milf material =P In highschool, I remember having debates about whether "Romeo and Juliet" was a story about infatuation or true love. ROCH is definately a story about true love. Though Yang Guo flirts around on the surface, he is never confused about who he loves. There needs to be temptation to show how unphased his love is, obstacles to show how no obstacles can stand in the way, and flaws in the girl to show how unconditional his love is. Somehow, I feel like I'm talking about myself...lolol =P
old jet li movies are Wuxia! "Once Upon a time in China".....and recently "Fearless"....Jet Li's last Wuxia movie is Fearless though...he isnt making any more of those gentre films.
Romeo and Juliet, the greatest love story of all time...is a story about infatuation. We decided that time was an important factor in love. So because there is barely any time that passes in the story before some ppl die, it cannot be love. Just as the bad taoist monk could not have loved XLN because he does not spend time with her. Yang Guo does show love for XLN as he grew up with her and he's always loved her and only her. If XLN aged to be ugly, I'm sure he would still love her. Even if she were ahem used, hated by society, older, ugly, he would still love her. He waits 16 years on the chance that she might be alive. At that point in love, what she looks like already doesn't matter. YG is crippled and aged, but XLN still loves him. The story shows that they love each other despite the flaws that reveal themselves with time. Romeo and Juliet were still in the honeymoon phase =P YG and XLN are waaay passed the honeymoon phase! Just my opinion =P I didn't like Fearless...I don't like these new "artistic" movies where the hero dies. I don't like it when the hero does not get the girl in the end. The only reason a hero can die in a movie is to protect a girl. i.e. Sin city, dying to protect Jessica Alba is acceptable. Dying to protect a country or defend your pride is no hero in my eyes.
thats pretty halarious. i dont like XLN that much, shes pretty boring. and their convos are pretty boring. its like all sweet talk. yeah, Huang Rong is cool!
yea! Guo Xiang looks soooo cute...but no, im not that far yet, im at the part where YG rescues XLN and takes her back to the tomb with Baby Guo Xiang and then Li MoChou, Guo Fu, the two brothers and that one other guy goes into the Tomb. well, im LOCH, shes a main character, and shes younger, and has a more fun personality. of course you would like her more
dood, you have no taste. Lui Yi Fei isnt that great, baby! theres something i dont like about her eyes. just because she is more well known, and more popular.
no im not...i just think shes pretty, and smart, and cool, and alot more that doesnt mean anything does it?
