  1. Does anyone know a good place that revives harddrives....?? My 164gig Hitachi of pure joy has died on me.... -cry2. There were some signs of it failing last nite when it start to chirp and churn and click and everything just slowed to a crawl and I kept getting the Blue Screen of Death saying that I have a Kernel_Stack_Inpage_Error.... anyone ever got that before and then their hd failed. So yea, anyone know of a good place that could revive it... Omg it's so depressing seeing all my important documents and files just vanish into nothiness.

The bluescreen should have given you an error with a series of numbers and letters. This will help to tell you what is the exact error. Trust me, you don't want to be going to a data recovery company for this, its extremely expensive. You can get your data back.
1-You can boot from your xp cd and use the "fix a previous xp installation". That may allow you to get pass the bluescreen and boot up. But you'll still need to start saving your data to other media exactly.
2-Since it sounds like the drive is physically failing, i would immediately get an external enclosure put it in there and copy all your important files immediately. Remember, your drive is not dead yet and you can still get data from it via an external enclosure.
3-If you find that when you put the drive in tne enclosure and you still can't get your info, then we'll get down to using the tools i use for data recovery.

I formatted my HD by accident any chance of recovering the data from it with those tools

  4. damn i wish it was that simple, but I mean I guess after couple of reboots, the drive just failed completely. I mean I had gotten pass the blue screen a few times but the comp. just slowed down really bad. And this morning marks the day that my Hitachi went away...-whistle so the itsy bitsy micro chips, never worked again...-whistle. No but really though, I hope you can help. Maybe theres like some kinda physical trick I can do to maybe revive it. I googled and there seems to be all these available softwares, but I doubt it would work since my comp. cant detect the drive. It's funny because last nite I was at least about to go into safemode and I tried to chkdsk /f for the drive, but it froze and I was forced to shut it off. then morning came and I cant log into windows anymore.

ok man...listen..when ur drive is in ur system..there is alot of pressure on it to function as opposed to just puttin it into an enclosure and have it just be recognized at a storge device....unless the drive physically stops spinning..u can still recover ur data....i can't get it from ur post when u said the chips are not running..by this..do u mean it stops spinning and it doesn't make any noises?..

  13. OMG!!! you won't believe this... just now, I turned on my comp. and after the windows loading screen it went black right, so I dunno waited for like 10-15min and next thing you know, the DSKChk started back up!!!, its checking the drive at 50% as we speak...... SO do you guys think there's hope, or what should I do!! holy crap the hard drive fairy has saved the day again lol.

hahah yea knoc know his stuff tech wise. but yea about the micro chips, I was just making stuff up there. see the lil whistling guy lol. So Knoc, what you recommend I do from here. It appears that the Hard drive can be detected it just takes a long time...

Sounds like it is quite dead. Sorry to hear about the problem. Was going to say there are stores that offer pretty much rehabilitation to your computer. Hope all works out well for you.

get urself a replcaement drive. stop trying to boot it up, everytime u do that...it gets closer to completely failing..get urself an enclosure and put in there...its just be recognized as strorage....once its in the enclosure, start copying you data immediately!

  17. ahh your not getting it... It can't detect it when its in an enclosure.... nothin is showing up... there's gotta be some way since checkdsk can run on it... right!?

Forget check disk! the disk is showing signs of physical failures, back up what you can once u have a backup drive in there and toss that dying HD.

  19. lol geez but it's like at 44% percent after 5 hours... yes i know I'm freakin stubborn like that, but ahh I'm scared to boot it back up again wait like 15-20mins, skip the scan dsk then nothing happens =(.

simple solution that might work: put it in an enclosure

medium solution that might work: get another HD instasll XP on it and slave the broken one so it odesnt have to turn on as active device and copy ur data

advanced solution: download a copy of knoppix linux and then boot it up, then get an external and use the linux on a CD to transfer data from your hd to an external.

most importnat thing is though get urself a new hd fast, and stop trying to boot the broken one. u dont want to boot off the broken one.
