FOR SALE: ONE US TOWN A SLEEPY Californian town was put up for sale on eBay today. Bridgeville, which is located in the north of the state and has 18 residents, is up for grabs for a cool $1.75million (£1million). The highest bidder is promised: “Eighty-three acres of lush, green hillsides, a roaring river, swimming holes, sweeping mountain views, warm sunshine and riverfront acreage.” Houses, commercial buildings, a post office and cemetery are included in the sale, but there is no bar and the nearest petrol station and convenience store is two miles away. The vendor is Bruce Krall, a 46-year-old banker who bought the town for $700,000 (£400,000) in 2004. He has decided to sell up because it's apparently too remote a place to bring up his family. The auction can be found at http://www.ebay.com/bridgeville and lasts for 30 days. Bidders will be checked to see if they have the funds available.
