Whats the big deal of not watering their lawn? Give her a break, shes 70 and not watering the lawn will not cause Armageddon. I wonder what is on the attorney's mind for pressing idiotic charges like this? -unsure

not "maintaining your landscape" is a misdemeanor in Utah.

some states has some really wierd laws. -.-

anyways, again with the "resisting arrest" charge. there isn't a need to resist an arrest. if someone was arrested on false charges -- it would be an heavenly case for the defendant's attorney. however, once you fight back you imped with polices' work -- which become inexcusable in the judge's eyes.

but i hope she wins. utah should get rid of that law -- very odd, IMO.

I am seriously finding the charge far-fetched... I bet not a lot of people know about that particular law...

Who called the cops on her in the first place? Bet some neighbours who can't stand that old woman's not so green lawn. Instead of sending the cops at her they should have offered her help to water it.

    you flatter me, hiake.

there probably isn't alot of ppl that knows these kind of laws exist -- probably b/c they are not enforced.

i remember there was thread here in pa on ridiculous laws in the states. imagine being arrested for one of those. -.-

yeah, there's a whole bunch of states with weird laws. there's one state with a law that says you can't wear a mask over your face, ever. only in america. haha. why are there so many of these incidents lately? >.<' did you ever hear of the case where a robber hurt his back falling down the stairs as he was robbing a house, sued the owner of the house, and won?? ridiculous i tell ya.

that is an absurd law....required to maintain and landscape your lawn....what about if your poor and disabled and you can't maintain your lawn or hire a landscaper....not only in america do you have the weird laws but you have most lawsuits

That's a messed up law and if the state is enforcing this law then I wonder if the people of Orem, Utah are getting compensated for water they may not have used otherwise and if home owners in Orem decide they want to remove their grass because of this law will the state reimburse the expenses? Sounds to me like a law suit that could have that law abolished.

And recently everytime I see an old person I try to imagine what they would've looked like when they were young and the whole thing just seems so surreal.
