i use bell sympatico and it seems no matter what i do i cant get past that traffic management thing that they have put up now... i tried forwarding my downloads to email ports like port 80 but my downloads dont go any faster...

its such a piss off cause they never told me about this traffic management thing and now that i have a contract with them its too late (not to mention they're like the only ones who offer unlimited dl). Also isnt it illegal to interfere with internet traffic? what happened to net neutrality?

does anyone know a way to get around this... short of using a proxy which i cant afford -_-

p.s. sorry for the lack of capitalization, i see it now but im too lazy to go back

can't u just change company by saying that they are managing ur traffic without notifying u and without stating that they would in the contract?

^they probably have some kind of fair usage clause in the contract, well that what all the UK ones do

looks like you might just have to sit it out till the contract ends, or you can put pressure on them to stop interfering with the traffic like i cant remember which US company blocked BT traffic, but due to so many people getting angry, they stopped doing that and are now trying to work with P2P

ye thinking about it though if dim8sum is correct about a fair usage policy, that would be in the terms and if it isn't there then u can always leave as they have broken the contract.

i know which american company you're talking about... comcast. But i cant leave this service not so much because of the contract... but its the only one that doesnt have a download limit on it. i just thought it was very irritating how they didnt tell me anything (not to mention i didnt sign a contract... sales representative told me all the nice shiny good things and asked me if thats what i wanted)

do they manage your traffic all the time?

cause my ISP only limits traffic during peak hours, you could try downloading at different times to see if a specific time they dont limit you.

Or ring them up and give them some hassle, see what they will do for you

I live in Canada and I don't seem to be having any problems, however I am using rogers and my speeds aren't that great anyways.
