I'm considering getting an ILC Camera.. The two I'm considering is the Panasonic GF3 and Sony NEX-5N..

    Prices:
    Panasonic GF3 w/ 14-42mm lens - $399.99 + $75 Gift Card
    Sony NEX-5N w/ 18-55mm lens - $699.99

Huge price difference but I want the best for the money and one that can last me a few years if possible. I want good image quality and some decent features along with easy access to manual control.

  2. you finally made a thread......

don't get either... just use your phone's camera :trollface2:

I think handphone's camera is only good for daily life usage but if you're going for quality, i strongly recommend SONY Alpha NEX-5N. I'm a proud owner of it ;) It's good for its price. Stylish with good image quality. I've made comparisons between GF2/3, Nikon J1 and NEX-5N. I still prefer my NEX :)

    No...

I personally love the feel of the Sony NEX-5N. It feels solid and not cheaply made compared to the Panasonic GF3.. but the price difference is what's bugging me and don't know if it's worth the extra $300+ for the NEX-5N. I've tried the Panasonic GF3, Sony NEX-5N, Sony NEX-C3, Nikon J1, and Olympus E-PM1 in store to get the feel of the camera. The handle part, I think the NEX-5N wins.. If it was about the size, GF3 or E-PM1 probably wins on that. Feature and image quality is my main concern for these types of camera at this moment.

If I was to get the GF3 or NEX-5N, it would be in White :xd:

    +1 for the GF3

The NEX ranks quite high, but it's not 300 dollars better than the GF from the impressions i've read.

^Yea, that's my problem right now.. $300+ more than the GF3.. I don't know if it's worth the extra $300 for the NEX-5N when I can get the Panasonic GF3 for $400 + $75 gift card ($325) but I only get one color choice which is black..

Mine is in black thou (cause i think white is very hard to maintain) ;) I believe the higher price comes with a bundle? Say free casing? Free memory stick/card? Screen protector and stuff? NEX-C3 isn't that bad, i like the mixed functions you may use to edit pictures! Oh, you may always upgrade the firmware at sony site too :)

GF2/3 isn't bad. They are number one while NEX is number two, i believe it's due to the price. Take your time and choose the best one that you like :)

    Panasonic GF3 White w/ 14-42mm lens and 45-200mm lens - $599.99 or $649.99 I think.. (was $475.99 earlier)
    Sony NEX-C3 Silver w/ 18-55mm lens - $599.99
    Sony NEX-5N White w/ 18-55mm lens - $699.99

Seems like you're really attracted to the GF3 sales :) eerm, not harm getting GF3 since NEX-5N White got no stocks. Follow your heart, it never goes wrong ;)

^It's just the price difference is kind of huge. Most NEX-5N are out of stock because of the flood in Thailand which stopped Sony from producing NEX-5N, NEX-7, and other cameras. If I was to get the NEX-5N White, I have to find a local Sony Style Store to get one since it's Sony's exclusive color.

You might want to look at this thread:

    http://www.dramasian.com/forum/showthread.php/67826-Trying-to-decide-on-a-new-Camera-Recommendations

I eventually went with something small, the LUMIX LX5. The deciding factor for me, was answering my own question, "when am I going to NEED to change lenses?" which I answered hardly ever. So, the interchangeability became a non issue.

The other question I have for you is, that since one camera costs almost twice the other, "In your mind, are you getting twice the camera value?" If you can't justify the extra cost, ie. the one special feature that is worth the entire cost of the less costly model, then you shouldn't get it.

^GF3 is the smallest I think I'll get.. Don't really want the LX5 or S100, want to have the option to get 1 or 2 lens in the future.
