http://www.twincities.com/ci_16716584?nclick_check=1 This year every damn line is longer. Heard many stories about walmart too and i am NOT surprise. Went at midnight there to get midnight sales and everybody was already near the covered item. I expect nothing but chaos.
NY do or die!' damn I hear people got their shit snapped from their cars.. it's crazy.. pple running in that shit acting like its all free. I mean can you imagine if we actually had a crisis? everyone for themselves...
I think I remember reading somewhere some guy was trampled to death in the lineup for walmart last year.
As far as I know, the UK black friday is all Friday 13th. I think it was this year or last year that had 2-3 black fridays. Yea, Jan sales are technically the leftovers from xmas sales xD
The problem with these things are that the doorways of stores are not meant to handle "black Friday" type activities. That is, small tight openings don't do frantic scrambles well. What they need to do is have the head of the line start in the parking lot, and have the doorway into the store about the size of a airplane hangar. I'm glad I stayed home.
^ This year Black Friday is Friday 17th Dec. And it's only crazy in Selfridges and Harrods and big places like that. You won't see it in Debenhams and John Lewis etc.
I would believe only people living in London will know what they are =p Selfridges would definately without doubt a big hit, how about big shopping centre like Bluewater, Kent and Westfield, London?
Ermm Lakeside, Bluewater and Westfield types aren't really a well known department store like Selfridges. They are just a shopping mall with different high street and designer shops under one roof. The shops itself will do personal promotions and places like Selfridges and Harrods hardly have special promotions going on for those designer labels that they have, so people do get very over excited in getting (for example) handbags at 30% discount but it still cost like £400 or something like that. Also the shopping malls has LOTS of space for people to walk around in and less chance on people getting trampled over whereas Selfridges don't. I think I went there one summer and it was nothing special and I kept being pushed about when I was just walking around browsing, wonder how hectic it will be when it comes to Black Friday. I'm just going to wait for the New Years sale, a lot cheaper with things then Can't wait to go Lakeside in a few weeks time with the mother
The prob about going in Jan is that most of the stuff is gone, so you may find something you really like but they don't the size or colour.etc Westfield have Louis Vuitton, bigger than the one in selfridges (they even hired a secuirity guard there lol).
^ Ha! I have no intention to go to Westfield any time soon until I have a £30k+ job in London. I'll stick to Lakeside and Bluewater more of my kinda stuff That's why it is worth going to the New Year Sale coz of the reduced price due to lack of sizes. Usually I do find my size at another chain store
I'm busy in Jan, so I prob have to go central and check it out in Early Dec. Let's hope in early feb, the things I want isn't gone. Credit crunch sux, making so many people redundant and hard to find a job. Good luck.
i never went again cause i had to stay up with caffeine which made me feel like crap and people are crazy for small discounts. the discounts arent that extreme anyways and most of the stuff i want are online and they have the same deals or even better so now i think only idiots go out there >>
