Disney/Pixar held the world premiere for their computer-animated film “Cars 2” at L.A.’s El Capitan Theater on June 18th, and technopop unit Perfume was there as the film’s special guests! Perfume’s song “Polyrhythm” was used in the movie’s soundtrack, and so they were given a special invite to walk the red carpet with the cast.
The girls walked down the “Road carpet”, which was 150 meters long, and were spotted by 300 media outlets from all over the world. John Lasseter, the director of the film, expressed his pleasure at seeing Perfume, saying, “The moment I listened to ‘Polyrhythm’, I loved it – [it was] just like falling in love.”

“Polyrhythm” was used in the scene of a party night before the “World Grand Prix Race” in Japan. It’s very rare for a Japanese artist’s song to be used in an American animated film, so Perfume fans felt extremely proud of their girls.

After watching the film, member Nocchi praised the qualities of one of her favorite characters, ‘Mater’. She said, “I like how obedient Mater is. It is difficult to maintain your style all the time, but we also want to stay the way we are no matter where we are, just like Mater.”

The members also commented, “It was just so lively and fun. We got goosebumps when our song was played. We would like to cherish this opportunity, and hold a live concert overseas someday. We would be happy if many people who do not know about us will get to know about us, and like Japan.”
