Phone scam targeting Chinese community June 2, 2008 - 10:46AM Advertisement Queensland police are warning Australia's Chinese community about an overseas competition scam targeting people who speak Mandarin. Police say people in Queensland and South Australia have already fallen victim to the scam, with other states also expected to be targeted. The scam involves a phone call from a person speaking Mandarin telling the victim they have won a large sum of money in a competition they never entered. Victims are told funds need to be sent to China in order for the prize to be claimed, a police spokeswoman said. As much as $10,000 has been requested. Other variations to the scam include a phone call to advise the victim they have been selected to enter a draw for a large prize, before being contacted days later to advise they have won the prize. In some cases, people have been told the caller is conducting a survey for an electrical goods company. I have been getting alot of phone calls in mando, too bad i dont understand mando
that is so retarded, you never enter a what ever it is to win so how can you win? last year, some spanish company sent me a letter saying i won the lottery and requested money, i took a paper and draw a big F finger along with go fck his mother and sent it to him/she, so obvious it was a scam siff i was going to fall for that XD.

Omg I get hecka junk mail that says, You have just won $$$ pounds and it is waiting for you at something bank of Africa.... Freaking like 10 of them a week lol..
lmao i get tons of stupid emails saying some person is holding a large amount of money for me to get it.. and i just had to send them $$$ for the shipping.. i was like wtf? lmfao the emails were really stupid.. 'so the government wont know what it is i have labeled it box of family goods' LOLLL
Wow, Interesting. Haven't got any of these kind of phone calls, and I don't understand a lot of mando anyways. Thanks for letting us aware that there is a scam like this around. Usually its the greedy people who get tricked by these scams..
LOL mine was interesting..... i got sent a 3000 check that was a fake of a check from an actual bank..... it was nuts...
