TVB has been criticized for its predictable storyline and sloppy productions for some time. However, TVB makes up for what they lack by employing a crew of dedicated artists. Pierre Ngo (敖嘉年), and Sire Ma (馬賽) braved the weather and continued filming Detective Columbo<神探高倫布>, ignoring their personal safety despite a typhoon level 8 passing!

Hong Kong Observatory had issued a typhoon warning with level 8 alert yesterday. Once a typhoon of such strength is announced, financial markets, schools, businesses, and non-essential government services are closed. But the committed cast and crew of period drama, Detective Columbo, produced by Lee Tim Shing (李添勝) continued to film disregarding the warning!

    Risking Life and Safety

Said to be the last drama before Tim Gor’s retirement, Detective Columbo stars Wayne Lai (黎耀祥), Natalie Tong (唐詩詠), Edwin Siu (蕭正楠), Pierre Ngo (敖嘉年), and Sire Ma (馬賽). Filming is coming close to being completed so Pierre and Sire put their best efforts forth.

Dressed in a hospital patient costume, Pierre was required to sit at the edge of the roof-top deck. Sitting at such high elevation is hazardous enough but with the typhoon hitting, it is a truly dangerous act! The only safety precaution in place is the backstage crew holding on to Pierre’s clothes to prevent him from falling over the building.

Next to him, Sire Ma filmed the entire process and posted it on Weibo with the following comments, “Even a typhoon with level 8 alert is unable to stop our passion for filming! I’m just scared that Pierre will be blown away!”

Pierre jokingly replied, “I won’t leave even if I die!” Pierre Ngo, Sire Ma, and the rest of TVB staff clearly demonstrated their devotion to their work and the filming process!

Despite strengthening gale-force winds, Leanne Li (李亞男) and Alice Chan (陳煒) continued filming for other TVB productions. While filming outside, it was witnessed also that Icy Wong’s (黃婉曼) umbrella was overturned by the typhoon. Singers, Stephanie Cheng (鄭融) and Anthony Wong (黃耀明) hid in the recording studio and continued recording their respective songs.

The professionalism exhibited by the above artists is to be commended. However, one should always put their safety as top priority! With so many of TVB artists leaving to Mainland China and rival television stations, TVB should strongly consider their artists’ welfare and let them go home when personal safety is threatened!
