hey, i'm going to be going to Hong Kong for the first time later this year and i was wondering what are some places i have to see. the places that only the locals know about, not the tourist spots.
maybe this is new: http://www.arrivalguides.com/GuidesFastcheck.aspx?partner=cathaypacific&group=city&flag=en and select HK....it will let u download a pdf guide of HK.... and when i are at the airport, drop by at the Tourism Board information desk...they have (free) booklets about HK and sometimes special offers and discount coupon things =P!!
Theres a pamphlet at the tourist booth at the arrival section in the airport which shows all the major attractions of HK. Grab one and you are all set to visit.
hehe im going to go to HK this year, too... my advice: go shoooppppinnng!!!!!!!!!!! xD well im going to visit a zoo in "kwon jau" , then maybe the ocean park, HK island ... i also dunno the places in HK. ^^
and there is a new wetland park in the northwestern part of the NT. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hong_Kong_Wetland_Park and http://www.wetlandpark.com/en/index.asp I haven't been there yet(next time i go )....but i saw on the news that is was a new popular attraction in HK...just like Ocean Park ....the little crocodile 'Pui Pui' also lives there.
Im not sure exactly where they are but.... - 2nd level malls with illegal software and dvd's (just to see the culture of course, not to buy stuff). - dai pai dong, small street-side restaurants (often dirty but really good food). - some islands in HK outskirts such as Cheung Jau.
yeah..mayb because of the question in the first post...seems to be a question about HK.... I could try the recommendations in the HK Tourist booklets..they are pretty good!!! U could see out MongKok and Tsimtsatsui... in kowloon... and ofcourse HK island...enough places to visit....As a tourist: The Peak, just renovated...(but beware of smog - view isn't always clear) For eating seafood..u can try the Islands indeed cheung chau en lamma island...
shopping shopping shopping, which hotel or which part of HK should I stay for my convenient to go for shopping and eating? Any recommendation? thanks in advance
as you see.. the posts above me.. HK is a good place to go! the place is so small.. yet so much to do! shopping is main thing... stuff so cheap! >.< you can also go shanghai.. i heard from my friends that it was very good. something like hong kong!
yup my friends just came back from shanghai.... they had twice as much fun than hong kong and spent half as much money as they had spent in hong kong.. i think in shanghai everythings just cheaper
