I accidentally clicked and downloaded this stupid "antivirus xp 2008" program and now I can't get rid of it. I tried uninstalling it but unsuccessful .. and deleting .. can't .. it starts on its own and I can't control or stop it. HELP. I have very important private files on my computer .. PLEASE help ASAP .. thanks!
The safest method is to make a fresh OS installation on another hard drive and copy over those files that you need (make sure you scan them with a anti-virus program first) then format the old drive.
i can't afford to reformat the drive now .. there are just too many important files on here. any other options. i downloaded the latest version of spybot and everything but my system still crashes every time i turned on...
Disable System Restore Boot into Safe Mode Remove Virus in Safe Mode Reboot Virus Scan Enable System Restore
Well if you don't really need the internet, you should unplug your internet cable first. Most like the virus does the dirty work by transmitting stuff over the net. So at least you can save your files.....and then do what kontradicitions said.
i can't ... tried spydoctor, spybod, norton antivirus, .. nothing seems to stop it .. it also automatic restart itself .. sighh ..
# Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, or MBAM, from the following location and save it to your desktop: Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware Download LinkMalwarebytes' Anti-Malware Download # Once downloaded, close all programs and Windows on your computer, including this one. # Double-click on the icon on your desktop named Download_mbam-setup.exe. This will start the installation of MBAM onto your computer. # When the installation begins, keep following the prompts in order to continue with the installation process. Do not make any changes to default settings and when the program has finished installing, make sure you leave both the Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware checked. Then click on the Finish button. # MBAM will now automatically start and you will see a message stating that you should update the program before performing a scan. As MBAM will automatically update itself after the install, you can press the OK button to close that box and you will now be at the main program as shown below # On the Scanner tab, make sure the the Perform quick scan option is selected and then click on the Scan button to start scanning your computer for Antivirus XP 2008 related files. # MBAM will now start scanning your computer for malware. This process can take quite a while, so we suggest you go and do something else and periodically check on the status of the scan. When MBAM is scanning it will look like the image below. # When the scan is finished a message box will appear as shown in the image below. # You should click on the OK button to close the message box and continue with the AntivirusXP2008 removal process. # You will now be back at the main Scanner screen. At this point you should click on the Show Results button. # A screen displaying all the malware that the program found will be shown as seen in the image below. # You should now click on the Remove Selected button to remove all the listed malware. MBAM will now delete all of the files and registry keys and add them to the programs quarantine. # When MBAM has finished removing the malware, it will open the scan log and display it in Notepad. Review the log as desired, and then close the Notepad window. # You can now exit the MBAM program. If the program is still unremove, visit Malwarebytes Forums for further help
Haha...yeah do that and backup all your data first, then do what the others said. Didn't you have AV installed in the first place?
yeah y else would u get external drives its for all the important stuff that u can't lose! =) just copy the files u need and kill the rest of the system =)
Format is a common word u will heard if u visit the IT. Why? Thats how they earn money. why don't u use a little bit of time to wash off the virus rather than format + install OS + application (min takes more than 3-4hours)
3-4 hours is just an afternoon and afterwards you will have a clean OS ready to go. It can take days or even weeks to clear out every trace of damage from the virus and they can't guarantee that 100% ok. The user will left with nagging doubts, was crash caused by the virus or was it just a buggy program.
that would be the best way. if cant be done backup your files and then format your hdd. If your files is so important you should have backups of them anyway.
since wen would u have an IT department at home neway? plus its quicker to format and reinstall than to use that "little bit of time" and at least ur guaranteed of a fresh start
