Has anyone looked at the news about the possibilities of a blackhole caused from tests by the Large Hadron Collider tomorrow on 10th september 2008?

Oh goody...its today...just when assignment is due next week. Looks like I won't be needing to do it.
And according to this, when this stuff happens, we have 45 seconds to counter the effect...or maybe 45 seconds to live...

  3. there aint gona be a blackhole, this stuff has been done already, this is just the one for the public.

There is still a chance of a blackhole forming, even though the probability is very small, there is still that risk.

I just can't believe that they are putting us and the whole planet and every species at the risk of extinction

Forgive me Father for I have sinned it has been YEARS since my last confession. I accuse myself of the following sins "the list doesn't just doesnt end"

  11. am i the only one who finds this intriguing?

with the high probably that this will not form a black hole big enough to suck us all in, it is intriguing that they are recreating two events (big bang and black hole) which require massive amount of energy to produce.

    this shit is so cool.

meh, its bullshit, the people who made this thing are hundreds of times smarter than the people who say it will kill us all. i'm pretty sure they arent suicidal so im thinking this will be ok.

of course, as an uneducated layman, i think there is probably a chance that this LHC will open up a portal into another dimension and will bring through a large mist containing hundreds of deadly creatures. prepare your shotguns and crowbars everyone.

y couldn't u think more optimistically, such as it'll open up a portal into another dimension containing nothing but the hottest chicks in the world... doing anything u want them to ... -inlove

haha, even though i took physics for as level... i do find this a little bit pointless...
isn't the process gonna take a long long while.. till like mid october or something?? but yeh, i guess it's gonna be interesting...

they have spend £5billion on this T_T"... surely the money can be used for something else...

lol 5 billion spent on research? lol
they coulda used that money to buy lots of ps3, nice cars, awesome houses and holidays and hookers and shit, but they spend it on research, what nerds :p

  20. what we learn today will benefit us tomorrow. 6 billion dollars is peanuts considering trillions are spent maintaining war and a handful of people have more then that in their bank accounts alone. Maybe we'll find the technology to make a warp drive or a worm hole and found out god doesn't exist once and for all out of this ^_^
