A US jury has found a man guilty of killing his sick 11-year-old daughter by praying for her recovery rather than seeking medical care. The man, Dale Neumann, told a court in the state of Wisconsin he believed God could heal his daughter. She died of a treatable disease - undiagnosed diabetes - at home in rural Wisconsin in March last year, as people surrounded her and prayed. Neumann's wife, Leilani Neumann, was convicted earlier this year. The couple, who were both convicted of second-degree reckless homicide, face up to 25 years in prison when they are sentenced in October. A lawyer representing Dale Neumann said he would appeal. 'Faith healing' During the trial, medical experts told the court that Neumann's daughter could have survived if she had received treatment, including insulin and fluids, before she stopped breathing. On Thursday Neumann, who is 47 and studied in the past to be a Pentecostal minister, said he thought God would heal his daughter. "If I go to the doctor, I am putting the doctor before God," he said. "I am not believing what he said he would do." He also said he thought his daughter had had flu or a fever, and that he had not realised how ill she was. Neumann's lawyer said he had been convinced that his "faith healing" was working, and that he had committed no crime. The prosecution argued that Neumann had minimised his daughter's illness and that he had allowed her to die as a selfish act of faith. They said the girl should have been taken to hospital because she was unable to walk, talk, eat or drink. Instead, an ambulance was only called once the girl had stopped breathing. ----------------------------------------------- he looks quite happy in the pic, too
Unfortunately, there are many of these type of stories, faith healing is is pretty much gambling with your love ones lives.
Having a faith is important but we should also weight on the situation and make rational decision which would mean "hospital ASAP". The guy is retarded to think God will appear to save to his daughter. If God exists in the first place, there wouldn't be any war nowadays.
Summation is, his faith was more important than his daughter's life. What he doesn't realize is that you can bend philosophy in any direction. Like the oft told joke of the man faced with the danger of a dying in a flood, refuses to be rescued. He steadfastly maintains that "God will provide" and ignored the truck, then a boat, and a helicopter, all of which offered to rescue him. After being swept away and dying in the flood waters, he questions why, with such strong faith, that God didn't save him, to which God replies that he did try, first with a truck, then a boat, and then a helicopter, but that the man was too stupid to use any of those God given gifts. Ergo, he had lots of faith but was drowned by his own stupidity. The man here was blinded by his own desire to prove something; hence, his ego rose above the God given gift of life that the doctors would have easily returned to his daughter. IOW he killed her with his stupidity. Far be it from me to know what the Lord thinks, but I suspect that God isn't going to like that at all.
Well, I have done just a "bit" .. now, just a "BIT" of spiritual healing research when I was back in college. Evidently, it helps those who battle terminal illnesses so that they don't lose hope. Having a faith gives them the motivation; the mental stability, and of course; hope to get through the pain and suffering rather than simply give up and wait for death or even commit suicide .. basically, stay away from depression.
Well, religion plays a big role in this part. They also ask people to believe in GOD. And this guy just kinda fell into it and believed it fully. Maybe I can't comment on religion much as I don't really believe in GOD. Believe in yourself, GOD is created so that we have some goal to live for.
