you could just install asian languages in your language controlpanel. after that, install Chinese keyboard, so you can type characters

    edit: beaten ><

can always just install east asian files and set unicode default to chinese
and then just add chinese input

just make sure u got ur windows cd (i am assuming u are using windows)
u can choose between simplified/traditional, and the various methods of input ranging from chang jie, big4, big4, pinyin etc =)
    i'm using it now
not that it makes much difference, since i can't type ><

but i just use it to view characters

    go to
    1) control panel
    2) regional and language settings
    3) in languages tab, tick install files for east asian files
    4) in advanced tab, choose chinese for "language for non unicode program" (i choose taiwan to get traditional chinese)
    5) in languages tab, click "details" under the input
    6) under installed devices, click add, and choose chinese and ur corresponding input method (can choose under properties)

One other way is via the Microsoft Multi Language Pack, this will enable you to switch between language versions and the apps will show correctly :D

u can choose canto pin yin (forgot wat its called tho, think it had separate name) in njstar!
i used to do it, except my canto pinyin seemed to be worse than mandarin lolz
even tho i know very little mandarin heehhe

atleast u kinda get the hang of mandarin pinyin after a while...
plus i guess im lazy using njstar, cos gotta use the extra column on my window... i can't spare it =P

If you ever go to Toronto (the chinese computer stores) they will always say Chinese and other languages are all built into Windows XP. Eventhough there is Chinese WIndows XP.....ya don't need it.
