TVB producer Kwan Wing-chung (關永忠), best known for kickstarting the Wars of In-Laws <我的野蠻奶奶> series, will be leaving TVB at the end of the year. The family drama Kiss Me Mother <親親我好媽>, currently in post-production, will be his last TVB production. Kiss Me Mother stars Ben Wong (黃智賢), Elena Kong (江美儀), Sharon Chan (陳敏之), and Michelle Yim (米雪). In March, Kiss Me Mother halted production for a few days due to script concerns. Without a complete script in hand, filming eventually caught up, and the crew had to stop production so the screenwriting team could have time to turn in their scripts for the next few episodes. This mishap allegedly angered TVB executives, leading to rumors of Kwan Wing-chung being fired. Producer Kwan denied getting fired, but the Kiss Me Mother screenwriting mishap was most likely the catalyst in his decision to quit. “If I was fired, I would have left already!” said Kwan. “I’m still working with TVB, but I’ve already sent in my resignation letter. I’ll be leaving in November.” He then clarified that his reason to quit was not because of the Kiss Me Mother production incident, “Due to schedule clashes or accidents, [halting production] can happen every one in a while. But this incident really got blown up, and there’s too much gossip going around. I am unhappy about it, which is why I decided to quit.” This will not be Producer Kwan’s first time leaving TVB. He left the network in the early 2000’s and briefly worked for ATV. He returned to TVB in 2003 as a producer and produced his first title, Net Deception <追魂交易>. Asking if he plans to work for other television stations after leaving TVB, Kwan said, “Haven’t thought about it yet! I want to rest first!” Creds: Oriental Daily
I thought it was a TVB policy (one of the newer ones) to have the script completed before filming unless it's a sitcom?
Yes I remember that being one of their new policies, obviously they may not adhere to it all the time.
LOL. It makes logical sense to have a script or blue print. But sometimes revisions or mishaps happen. His pride proally got the best of him.
