Just read an article about the PS3 pricing.
According to this article, the 60 GB PS3 in US will sell for $499 and a new 80GB version bundeled with game will cost $599.
In an interview with Sony it is mentioned that the 60 GB version will disappear!!!
So if you want to buy a "cheap" PS3 then do it now.

The 80 GB version will not be introduced in EU. In EU there will be a new bundel: 60 GB PS3 with 1 extra controller and 2 games.

    here is the article:

lol it would probably disappear when another price drop hits it, but probably not gonna be a while lol, it's just another marketing scheme... seriously wouldn't get one until it has some exclusive games cause now i still want to play that halo 3 lols.

ok lol still sorta a marketing scheme to get the people not to wait and buy all their 60gb models, so ps3 is gonna keep a steady pricing, next thing you know they would introduce a 100gb bundle, drop the price on the 80 and sell all that in a month and the 100gb would be $599 lol, that kinda gives you the urge to not wait lol, but kinda rip-off adding 20gb on a hard drive doesn't cost 100 bucks lols.

Yep, we Europeans are always being screwed hard. Not only is the PS3 more expensive than anywhere on the rock. We also get less. Since the PAL version lack an emulation chip. Which means that we don't have hardware supported emulation for the PS1 and PS2 games!!! But there is still hope that Sony will come to their senses during X-mas.
If they don't cut price, we just choose Nintendo or even Xbox360 :p

Just read some more info in US PS3 80 GB version.
This version is like the EU version without Emotion Engine chip.
Which means that PS1 and PS2 games are emulated by software!!!

    it began with a 499 20 gig ps3 and a 599 60 gig ps3 in the US.

    they discontinued the 20 gig and now there is a 499 60 gig ps3 and a 599 80 gig ps3.

they discontinue the 60 gig ps3 and we are left with a 599 80 gig ps3?

does anyone else see a pattern?

then they will get a few changes and charge more just like how they did with the PS2 by switching it to a smaller version...

Yeah the new PS3 pricing was supposedly introduced for E3. I think it might be a market scheme, but it is working... Hopefully, because PS3 sales are way below that of Wii or 360
