>.< I thought that the PS3 launch is far too classy and overpriced. Sony is going down the wrong road-boat if they think that people would make a hole in their pocket for it-nono . Somehow the support doesn't seem to be as big as when the PS2 was launched-unsure . I suppose it was priced sensibly then than now-rolleyes . I havn't heard of any stores sell out of stock like the PS2 did. Serves sony right. £50 a game?-shock
speaking of ps3... i have the sudden urge of buying a black 360 xbox or ps3 case, and make a pc out of it... that would be a pretty cool project...
The problem with the PS3 is that there's no games out there. It might be worth it next year, when all the big games finally come out. Until then, the XBOX360 is a much better deal!
Agreed, it didn't launch with worthy games. Its rivaliry with Nintendo Wii was not unsimilar to GameCube vs PS2 back then, only the sides has changed -- PS2 was understock (and its price got pumped up in the "blackmarket") while GC wasn't able to create a hype beyond its usual trademark games.
guys guys guys.. the ps3 is a computer with a blue ray... a powerful one at that... so for 600 bucks, ITS CHEAP lol put linux on and a keyboard and mouse, you got a pc for 600 with blue ray
funny part is that PS3 is still losing money per PS3 there sell.. they lose around 300 euros per PS3 they sell!!!
I would say that its more along the lines of an "entertainment system" than a pc. Sure it can do stuff a pc can, but doesn't that apply towards everything? Explain why you think the 360 is a better deal? I own one and have only played Halo 2... Recently brought a wireless 360 headset and they charge you out of the ass for accessories. Take a look at the cost to upgrade to a 120GB HD. Since Europe doesn't have a fix price on the PS3 compare to the US, I feel bad for those in Europe. Don't complain about something that you wouldn't even buy or care about. The question you should ask yourself is whats the price of entertainment to you? What feature are you looking for (single player or multiplayer)?
^ yea but wouldnt it be awesome if we can just change a few parts here and there to make the ps3 into a pc? that would be a bad ass looking pc lol or even a 360
I think the general consumers want more then just a gaming console, they want more bang for their buck.. hence all those added features. (more feature, cost more to produce, hence charges more) . Sony also trying to win the new HD war considering it's the cheapest Blue-Ray player in the market... is cheap, on top of that you have an entertainment system, a photo album (very cool feature) etc..
Great to be hearing so many opinions, but I still think that the PS3 is entertainment not PC geared as many woud think. Those people thinking it's worth the price are out of their minds, the technology is only worthy to anoraks until there is competition on the market. Rushing technology only leads to compromise. Sony leaves the younger generations behind, but not a bad thing if you've heard whats on the news. game is game and stick to it?
bullshit, theres so many games, i want to buy. i only got one and its best game ive played so far. award wining too. 300 euros? bullshit, NOBODY would sell any product that loses money. UNLESS they want to get rid of it. like the closing down sales. A big company like sony spends thousands of dollas creating the ps3, and decides to sell it, so they the cost is higher than sold price? its practcally giving money away
^actually Sony loose money on every single PS3 they sell (http://blogs.business2.com/utilitybelt/2006/11/sonys_loss_is_a.html).... They make their money selling games So technically its actually underpriced, however its still way too expensive for many people, and thats the problem... The console retails in UK for £450 without games and £550 with games, thats ridiculous amount of money, games come in at a whopping £45-£50 each... Im waiting a few years and for MSG4 before I even consider it...
Oh yes! You're right down my line Oh yes son! You're very right with the money losing on Sony, it is their strategy to set a foot in before Microsoft takes over their share of the market. I mean they were once the dominant force with the PS2 even the original Xbox couldn't touch it. Sony will catch up after a 2-3 years when technology advance and it's price drops. But that will mean shortening the lifespan of the machine and it's time for Xbox3 or PS4. But until then those mindless followers will be throwing there cash away. Happy arguing.
^ yeh waiting means you could be buying out of date stuff, but hopefully it will be at least another 5 years before the next next gen even come out Dam all those rich people and your precious PS3s!!!!
