Ah bleh, i hate it when they put the prices of fares up. It's so fooking not worth it -_- and even with 30% discount im still paying quite a hefty ammount per month...what do they do with the flipping money =/ bah..freaking delays and strikes!!!

yeh i hate public transport too i hate the fact that you have to adjust your scehdule to fit round their timetable and i absolutely cant stand it when buses suddenly dont turn up. ive had times when ive had to wait 1hour for a bus when they should come every 30minutes. Plus like you said ^^ its not exactly cheap either

  6. agreed. it takes me 3 hours one way, and 6 hours both ways for me to get to my university. thank god for my dad, he drops me off in 45 minutes. but still. when hes not there, i have to take the bus and subway. but its not just the transportation itself that sucks in toronto, its the service. heres a story.

i met this really bitchy ttc operator.. twice, when i was on my way home from a party, and from meeting the famous craig kielburger.

So there i was waiting in line to purchase some tickets to go home, and the ttc lady's phone rang. i gave her a $20 bill as she was picking up the phone. she took the bill and threw in on the counter (literally THREW it), and started chatting on the phone. i waited for 3 whole minutes.

i glared her, then i looked at a young woman behind me. she was shocked too. after 3 long minutes, she hung up the phone and said "I was on the phone. i didnt hear what you want." and i thought to myself, thats not a reason to be holding a client. and she said the COLDEST words "what [the hell] do you want" (she meant in a wtf-do-you-want-kid tone).

after i left, she started yelling at another girl, (the girl behind the young woman, whom i looked at) so the young woman passed by me and said "what a bitch! im gonna file a complaint!"

well whatever lol, i bought a 5 adult ticket with a 20 bucks, and and she gave me a change of 15 dollars LOL the stupid ttc woman gave me $5 for free LOL

for those in toronto, this happened at st-george station.

in NYC, without mass transportation like the subway system, you'll be stuck in traffic jam for a very long time. The MTA can charge as much as they want because they know people are willing to pay for it. On the other hand, they also have to deal with union workers... who never seems to stop demanding more pay.... more benefits... the public always get caught in the middle. Is this progress?

Even though I despise the transit system in Toronto, I am all for public transit! I hated the fact that most North American cities necessitate the use of a vehicle. What's up with all the wasted space and the reliance on vehicles?
*Sigh* I guess I am a uber-urban person that CANNOT stand inaccessibility.

Well, I don't know how it is in other places, but the public transportation in NYC is pretty decent. Well, also since I'm a student I get to ride for free :D At least, it's better than driving everywhere because of massive traffic jams and lack of parking space.

  16. hehe in nyc the public transport is decent because it is much efficient than cars (traffic jams).

here in toronto, both the traffic AND the transit suck.

In Toronto, I suspect one of the reason the transit sucks is that too many people being impatient and drive. It's a vicious cycle really. But hell, I am sticking with VIVA.
