my gf just recently found out that there was a security breach with her hsbc master card. apparently someone has been making purchases even though she is physically holding the credit card. apparently the person was able to purchase something from a vending machine (for those in ny metro card vending machine and its a monthly too.) *also we are 100% sure she didn't make that purchase because she never in her life went to that location. is it possible for ppl to make purchases without the credit card at places that accept credit card? not online or by mail.
The card details prob got robbed online and then transcripted onto another card. Watch the real hustle and see how it is done. You would be thinking woah..
i was thinking about that too but didn't know if it was really possible and how it really work thanks for the info
To get you started: Credit card fraud - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia@@AMEPARAM@@/wiki/File:Mergefrom.svg" class="image"><img alt="Mergefrom.svg" src="http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/0/0f/Mergefrom.svg/50px-Mergefrom.svg.png"@@AMEPARAM@@commons/thumb/0/0f/Mergefrom.svg/50px-Mergefrom.svg.png
yea i read that b4 posting a thread here and to my understanding it didn't mention about being able to put the data on to another card and could be used like the actual credit card itself
If I had time, I would search for the video on Youtube and see how it is done. Type in UK Real Hustle Credit Card scam or something.
if the purchase is huge or out of control the bank will call you to confirm about it and if u didnt make it then they will freeze it and refund you i think. Happen to me
Thats the problem about frauds, the bank will have to 'refund' the money back to you at no charge. The person who robbed the details will get away, but will likely be tracked down through CCTV.
Online shopping with one trojan infection and all your data is captured. Simply copied onto another card and good to go. As well, the simple old fashioned method of skimming your card when you make a purchase or use an atm etc.
well we notice from the statement that the person made a 89 dollar transportation card purchase from a vending machine for unlimited rides for a month thanks for the info found this to be interesting and pretty sure she don't have a trojan cause she rarely download anything online or go online thanks for all the good info
Here's some advice, Don't use a credit card!! shits happening all too often nowadays.. god damn.. I'm rollin' with a stack of hundreds..
y does america have to be so cheap
ofcourse it's possible.....con artists won't reveal how it's done but a lot things you think would never happen to you can happen...well credit cards usually have security options for fraud so i hope eeverything works out
yea it's fine now. just sorting through which things did she buy and the things she didn't buy and handing it to the bank to refund the money. lucky she doesn't have that much money in her bank
Credit card can go on an overdraft though? Debit card is the safest option (you can only spend as much as the bank holds) The internet is a dangerous place, perfect for scammers.
I went from this can't happen to me to this can happen again any day now.. gotta keep that credit report on check
