Actor Daniel Radcliffe is desperate to shake off his Harry Potter tag - and wants the public to see him as "an actor in his own right". The 17-year-old star has played the boy wizard since 2000, but appeared onstage in Equus on London's West End earlier this year. And Radcliffe admits it will take more than playing one different role to change the public's perception of him as solely Harry Potter. He says, "It was fantastic to do Equus but I'm not under the false impression that doing one different role will make people suddenly see me as an actor in my own right rather than the actor who plays Harry Potter." "I think if I continue to do other interesting roles, hopefully people will see me differently." Source: TeenHollywood
Don't think he could ever shake it off, i mean it's harry potter lol, even if he won an oscar for a role or something he'll still probably be known as the kid who played harry potter
at least he plays harry potter pretty well.... maybe when the entire series is over, he'll have an easier time trying to shake off the tag, lol
Given his non-existent acting skills in the Harry Potter films... I doubt he can shake the tag off in the film business, although I've heard really good reviews of Equus. Guess he may have to consider switching over to the theatre scene -whistle
he has been acting as harry potter for so many years...i don't think people will ever stop calling him harry potter...not for at least another couple of years until the last movie is released...unless there's a new cast for the role...which i doubt many would like the sudden change of cast....i can understand his pressure of being the potter boy too..after his performance for equus, many has been comparing his matured role to his innocent role in HP.....
