Recently, the British band Radiohead has announced a release of a new album and instead of the usual way they are offering it to people for the price that they want to pay for it as a download legally from their website. on this website you will be able to enter how much money you want to pay for it from £0.00 onwards, if you are paying some money then you will have to add 45p for the handling fee.

I believe that this is a brilliant way forward and I hope that more artists follow this route. what are your views?

Nice idea but I firstly want to hear from others how the tracks are cuz I didn't like their recent stuff. And I also want to know whether there's DRM on it that prevents me to copy it on my (now died) mp3 player. I'm so fed up with those strict DRM as I did pay for them but whenever there's some computer problem I'll lose the license I'd paid for. >.<

You can choose to pay absolutely nothing for them... That's the neatest part of the deal -tongue2

You still have to pay them the 45p (for each track I bet) for the handling fee. -mellow

I paid nothing for my download... But I am not sure if they will charge you extra if you choose to pay ANYTHING instead of nothing -sweat

Methink they only charge the 45p handling fee if you are paying ANY MONEY... If there's no actual transaction, there shouldn't be any handling -tongue2

Oh so you got the tracks? How are they? Any better than the stuff on Kid A and Amnesiac? :)

Haven't get a chance to listen to them yet... But even so, I didn't think Kid A was THAT terrible so my taste in music may not be any indicator of their crappiness or greatness -sweat

OK, Kid A wasn't that bad I admit, but I prefer their older stuff like OK Computer. Let me know how the new tracks are when you have the chance to listen to it and I might buy a few of 'm -^_^

Oh man, I'm facing a dilemma now...I do want to listen to the new stuff but I'm not sure whether to pay or not as I dunno how the new stuff sounds like. If it's crap I wished I'd never paid anything for it but if don't pay and I liked it a lot I'll feel guilty. -unsure

So, bbes or Hiake or anyone else have already heard it?

Pay nothing to download it now, then if you like it enough, buy the CD -tongue2

This is certainly not 'love at first listening' and I'm glad I haven't paid a penny for it....-boat
The only track I sort of liked was 'Reckoner' which was ok.

Just thought it's kind of relevant... Why would anyone risk their neck to share the files illegally if they can get it for free? Too much effort to "sign up"?! -huh
