Rain’s 5th album title song ‘Rainism’ has been classified as unhealthy media material for teenagers by the South Korean government’s family health welfare association.

With this taking effect, from 24th November onwards, the song can only be present on music sites and charts as the ‘clean’ version. And for broadcasting purposes, the song will also have to be changed to the ‘clean’ version. And Rain may also be barred from performing the song during any public performances.

Under the 10th clause of the teenager preservation law, any media content that aims to stimulate any sex-appealing sensations or has obscenity in it have to conform to the law.

The clean version will change the part of the song that goes ‘inside your shaking body, my magic stick spins’ and ‘Feel the rhythm of my heart digging (Now feel my soul)” will be changed to ‘The body shake that is no longer feeling the boundaries (더 이상 넘어갈 수 없는 한곌 느낀 바디 쉐이크)’ and ‘Our one and only Rainism (너와 나 하나되 어외치는 나만의 레이니즘)’.

Rain’s company J Tune Entertainment voiced, “But the song was planned awhile back by Rain so as to fit his idea of ‘Stick performance’ and had used the lyrics to fit the song. There was no intentions to stimulate any sex-appealing sensations or obscenity.”

With the law taking effect from 24th November, the company had rushed to correct that part of the song and had distributed it online on music sites, and will also use it for public performances or performances on broadcast programs.

Some netizens have said, “This is so contradicting since they are many influencing media out there like dramas that have also influenced teenagers a lot in terms of violent or sex scenes.”

“But there is no way but to accept this arrangement. We are not agreeing to the allegation about the content to the song lyrics but this is to make sure that Rain’s activities can still go on.”

not gonna happen .. i hope it remains that way ... korea is practically the only one left that stay so conservative in terms of cultural value. these days, with media and all influence, there are so many fucked up ppl out there.

  5. say what? they've got more dirtyness then china and as much as japan... and cultural value i would say japan is pretty big on it but yet they can remain pretty modern too. The conservatives are sadly us chinese, not one mainstream song comes out as anything remotely dirty so if those lyrics were to be in chinese they've probably wouldn't have even made the cut for the album...

^lol .. i am not chinese .. just viet/korean ... lol so my korean side is freaking strict here abroad and back home in korea .. if you've been back, you would know what i am referring to .. what you see or hear in media is not reality. you don't see "gay" in korea as open as in japan (never been there and never will in my lifetime) .... it's very traditional .. trust me.

as for rain's lyric .. personally, it's not a big deal since i am used to stuffs like that here already ...lol

  7. laff no asian culture is completely open to gays, (except thais?) hell we're just finally accept "rap" music into the radio and thats only been in the last couple of years. If you live in a traditional strict family then that certainly sucks but chinese people are also very traditional espically with that 5000 years of history thing, (sorry to say but alot of your culture were borrowed from us) at least you got people to shake booty on screen we've got nothing yes nothing! at the moment. Last i heard Korea is very influenced by American culture and you know who we goto look for influence? Korea and Japan

^ sry .. we don't borrow your culture .. they were forced on us to be more exactly but anyhow, we have our identity too so yeah .. the only reason korea is somewhat influenced by the american is very straight forward .. both korea and japan have us army in the country...lol

  9. exactly! and borrow/force neighbours im sure there were some influences both sides ;) back then. Anyways, my korean friends don't have strict parents at all, i think its the family that chooses to be strict or traditional, my family isn't that strict on tradition while others i know have alot of rules to follow. The big picture in the media is we are just opening up to things like sexy and rap in the entertainment culture and even so if a girl shows some skin on a music video its considered very cheap whorish, but this is soon to change as i can see they are adapting, we are probably 10 years behind on stuff like that.

well .. sry to say this but american entertainment with gals being showy .. are indeed cheap and slutty. it's good to be unique and different and creative but using sex appeal ain't the way to go . as an audience, i like the music .. love the gals but certainly not the type i will ever wanna be friend with, date, or even marry. one word best describe them .. TRASH. you can call me narrow minded or traditionalist or whatever, the reality of tv doesn't change. 10/10 are simply "ho".

  11. Its not all good to dwell in the past either, if we didn't move forward everyone would still be wearing skirts down to their shoes, now for sex appeal i think it works perfectly for selling things. Would you rather watch a dull singer stare at the mic all day or mix it up with someone who can dance and do both? I mean there are good singers out there but there and there are ones who can do both as a bonus. People who are against this just don't understand the entertainment value it has so you can make a fuss about it but people know what they want.

Now for being traditional, you havn't experienced traditional until you've dipped your head into the chinese music industry. There are only 2 mainstream genres to choose from , slow pop & soft rock slow pop, u get 100 entertainers singing the same love tune with the same lyrics over and over again and to make things worse none of them can entertain you.. yes there a couple out there that can dance but it feels like %2 of the whole industry as every single on of them will stand in front of the mic like its friday night amateur karaoke time and bore you while they sing. I'm not trying to diss the chinese industry here im just being real. There's tradition at home and family lives and theres new tradition people need to accept over time with what the new world is moving with, chinese culture is very slow or hostile towards accepting anything new except the new PRC

i am not against dancing or whatever here .. if your idea of moving forward is to dress like a "ho" then i have no comment. sex appeal obviously sell; how and why else do you think marketer do it ... doesn't take a genius to figure that out but at the end of the day, it just cheapen the women; doesn't do women any good if you ask me. from a guy perspective .. no bother with me .. morally, just wrong.

i don't know chinese entertainment as much so i can't comment but i do enjoy a lot of the oldies from the teresa teng backward where songs are so much more meaningful and beautiful. a lot of the songs nowadays are about love or you fuck me or sex or gun or whatever shit .. don't get me wrong too here .. i enjoyed alternative music but some lyrics subject are so off that make the song very crude to the ears.

  13. they are your standards but i never said dressing up like a ho is part of any culture to be successful, dancing sexy is different from wearing nothing at all, you can still sell sex without being a hoe what im saying is get with the program rather then have tradition hold you back or you can live in the past if thats what you like.

like i said .. not against anything .. ppl in the entertainment will always cook up something new .. it's "art" after all .. so everyone's taste and interpretation are different. what you deem as acceptable like dressing in a swimsuit and dancing to the music on the live stage is sexy whilst i may find offensive to women (ok, not all the time if they are ACTUALLY pretty .. lol) after all, it's about the music .. why the all these practically half naked women are dancing on the stage .. know what i mean .. moving forward with music or whatever isn't the problem here but how they portrayed women and sex and drug and gun .. not so good if you ask me. it's like a magnet for the younger generation .. beats me .. perhaps i am just old .. almost hitting the 3-0 ..lol
