You’ll find Tetris on pretty much any gaming platform you care to name, but one very rare version has just been offered for sale with an asking price of $1 million. The Japanese version of this Mega Drive title is already rare enough in its own right. A legal tussle with Nintendo meant that it was released in limited quantities then hastily withdrawn. Gamesetwatch.com reports that fewer than ten copies of the game are thought to exist today. eBay games trader ‘shinsnk’ is lucky enough to own one of them, but his is the rarest of all because it’s signed by the game’s original creator – the legendary Alexey Pajitnov. His scrawled moniker is the justification for the eye-watering pricetag, in spite of the fact that shinsnk only paid 11.000 Euros (roughly £9,660) for it himself. He is prepared to consider all “serious offers”, though. By that he presumably means all bids in excess of the two over $20,000 (approx £12,400) he’s apparently rejected so far. You can see shinsnk’s auction here. So how much would you be prepared to pay for a rare game? Perhaps not a cool million for one that's as basic and commonplace as Tetris, we’ll wager…
