Due to the popularity of Detective Galileo in Hong Kong, TVB plans to film Hong Kong version of Detective Galileo in the end of next month and chooses popular Siu Sang Fa Dan, Raymond Lam, Tavia Yeung and Kenneth Ma to cast in the series. Talks rationally and logically The tentative title of the series is 談情說案. Raymond Lam will portray as Galileo which is a professor in physics. He requires everything to be explained rationally and logically. He uses his scientific theory to solve case with criminal investigator, Tavia Yeung. Both of them will be romantically linked as well during case solving. Raymond Lam expressed that he likes to read detective novels since young but this is the first time he portrays in a detective series. He said, “This is a new try for me. (Did you watch Detective Galileo before?) I don’t even have the time to watch my own series so of course I do not have time to watch other series! (Will you worry that audiences will make comparisons between you and Masaharu Fukuyama?) Anything that we do will raise comparisons.” Emphasis on love relationships Tavia Yeung feels that this is a fresh feeling portraying a criminal investigator for the first time. She said, “The role is very different and the story line and genre are very fresh. Therefore, I’m looking forward for it.”(Will you worry that audiences will make comparisons with Japan version of Detective Galileo?) I will not worry. This is two different things.”The producer, Lau Ka Ho revealed that this series will emphasis on love relationships and therefore audiences will not treat this series as Detective Galileo. Does that mean they're even going to copy the cases/stories of Galileo exactly? Or is it another one of those "inspired by" type of series, where the tone and characters resemble a remake but the stories are completely different? I'm kind of sick of how TVB doesn't bother to come up with barely any original story ideas anymore. The original Galileo has already aired on tv in HK, so I'm not sure why they're bothering to re-do it.
