Letting everyone realize that this style and attitude can mesmerize without trace. It has been a long time since an artist came along with this much potential, Lam Fung. When speaking from his heart about his ambitions on the screen for the past ten years, this irresistible beauty in simplicity, definitely charming! Seize the opportunity and giving his best Undeniably, in recent years the male lead actors in TV series has changed rapidly. In an instant some actors who were once very popular disappeared, or those who had disappeared for a while fighting back with a bang… these are the unpredictable rules of the current television circle. Own strengths, audience acceptance, personal networks and even the advantages and disadvantages, having and losing are all calculated within, who would know how hard it would be to step onto the clear path? Not long ago, at TVB’s Miss Hong Kong competition Fung partnered Joey Yung to be guest performers. His leading series “Moonlight Resonance” is now airing. There are many rumours that he is TVB’s heavily promoted actor, assisting him on all sides to be this year’s TV king. About his wonderful path ahead which is not easily gained, in other people’s eyes it’s like having God’s assistance, but for Fung, they are not a result of luck. In simple terms, it is definitely the result of what he has contributed. “I’ve been in the entertainment industry for almost ten years. Looking back, TVB has given me many chances on screen. All of them other people can also have. Luckily when they’re in my hands I will definitely cherish and seize the opportunities. But this doesn’t mean my own hard work and heartfelt emotions can be disregarded. During these years my results in acting and singing cannot be achieved just by outside assistance. People’s approval and acceptance is the most powerful proof, looking at the facts can prove everything and I don’t need to explain anymore. I can only continue to work hard and better myself.” Fung gave me a deep emotive expression from his eyes and said. Completely understand Fung’s every word, letting people laugh or scold at him and not taking these comments to heart. Actually his words express the inside emotions he felt for the last ten years. “A few years ago I did mind those rumours/gossips or negative news, plus in the past I don’t like to talk or give explanations, so people would easily misunderstand me. Then I slowly discovered the importance of keeping an open mind (letting go of things). Today’s Lam Fung is more carefree, bravely saying what he’s feeling inside, and doesn’t care about what others think of him too much. Isn’t being yourself the most blessed of all?” Maybe luck is the gift of hard work As Fung says, solid work, giving his all, and not letting those people down (those who has high expectations of him) is the view he, or anyone should have. It goes without question that luck can help, giving the results a personal touch, but also need to remember luck is always the biggest reward for hard work. “I really think the god of luck has been taking care of me, so I haven’t experienced any large obstacles. Of course there had been the occasional difficult time, but every time there is always an elder person who cares about me and we talk through things. They have given me tremendous support and help whether it’s on acting or emotional issues. Here I would like to give them my heartfelt thank you. At the end of the day I’m an introvert. When faced with unhappy situations I would hide it inside and wouldn’t share it with others. It’s rare to have these elders behind me and supporting me, that is my huge gain from this industry!” During the interview it’s not hard to discover Fung is a cautious person, with every question he always likes to think through it first then give the most rounded answer. This made me felt that every reply he gave was from his heart, especially when talking about his grand ambitious in the entertainment industry. This completely demonstrates the deep simplicity in his emotions (?). “Many friends in journalism have asked me this question, my answer is of course getting the audience’s approval and acceptance is my ambition and goal. Frankly, ha, I’ll be lying if I am not chasing for something more, and I, like other artists, also hope to win an award which has meaning and recognition of our efforts. But I will aim more towards gaining more popularity amongst audiences, gain more praises and satisfaction for my work. When you have experienced the excitement you will be completely mesmerized by it, at least as an artist this is your most basic reward.” “As for goals, since the beginning I haven’t actually set any long term goals, because if you want to achieve them, it may not be what you had expected. I would rather prefer setting some short term goals as the direction for my hard work. Like this year I have already achieved my goal of filming one ancient and one modern series. I am happy with both Moonlight and The Four. In Moonlight I have the chance to work with many experienced actors, which benefited me a lot. Like the older generation actor Lee Hang Kam taught me many things about reactions and control skills. She is really an outstanding and fun elder.” Fung’s face expressed a grateful smile. Emitting an unique healthy air In the rushed half hour interview, Fung not only gave us his moving story of ongoing struggles, he also delicately outlined his future directions, not only showing his passion and hopes for his work, but also taught me to understand every outstanding actor has a sense of responsibility. “In the next six months I will give most of my time on my new album, since it has been a while since I had concentrated on my singing career. This, I feel I owe it to my fans, so I will do my best to make this album as a way to repay them for their love and support. As for movies, actually I would like to develop this more. This is because it gives me more room for expression, not only I can learn new things, it will also benefit my future development. With a view to become a versatile artist, improving myself in many areas is natural.” “In my view, artists play an integral part of today’s society. They play a part in affecting today’s youth. So I will set an example, giving my heart to build an image which they feel is worth following, letting them admiring me and also influencing tomorrow’s leaders. As long as they receive healthy development from entertainment, I have already done my job.” After our conversations Fung immediately immersed into the photoshoot. His immense drive, power and dedication to his work were felt by the crew.
