TVB’s most promoted artist at the moment, Raymond Lam (林峯), will be holding a concert series for the third year in a row at Hong Kong Coliseum in late July. However, due to the bed photo scandal with ex-girlfriend, Mavis Pan (潘霜霜), many of Raymond’s young female fans’ hearts were injured. Since Raymond held concerts in the last two years, there was a lack of freshness. The lack of Raymond’s new hit songs did not help either. To-date, the sales for concert tickets have been lackluster. Although there were only ten days left prior to the start of Raymond’s concert, there were still many remaining tickets left in his three-session concert series. Raymond’s music company, Emperor Entertainment Group (EEG), originally planned to hold a five-session concert series for Raymond, in order to supersede his four-session performance from last year. Prior to the concert tickets going on sale, Raymond’s bed photos with Mavis Pan were released. Although Raymond was prepared [for the backlash] and maintained the image of a man who was lovelorn and betrayed in love, his lies and lewd image hurt many young female fans. Despite playing the role of the victim in the scandal, the situation could not be saved. A TVB insider revealed, “Initially TVB announced that Raymond will hold two concert performances. The sales trend was worse than projected. The remaining concert tickets could not sell. However, since TVB booked eight days [at the Hong Kong Coliseum], there is no way that they will only hold two concert performances. The only way was to add another day’s performance to the concert series. Internally, a lot of tickets have been blocked off and unable to be sold yet.” To boost the lackluster concert sales, TVB ordered all of the company’s variety programs to feature Raymond on their shows to boost his popularity higher. On June 24th, Raymond appeared on Jade Solid Gold "勁歌金曲". Within two weeks, on July 16th, he made another appearance on Jade Solid Gold. This completely violated the internal policy that each artist will have at most one appearance on Jade Solid Gold each month. Originally, TVB contracted artist, Alfred Hui’s (許廷鏗) song was intended to take the number one position on the program. In order to boost Raymond’s popularity, Alfred had to step aside and Raymond’s song took the top position instead! The producer of variety program, "變身男女 Chok Chok Chok" originally intended to have “the angels” sing the ending theme song. I see how TVB wants to promote him.. but for Alfred to step aside.. i feel bad. For him.. he might be like "Oh its ok, he's my senior".. but dude. He's a newcomer. He needs the popularity. He might be the new lam fung yo.
Raymond must hate her ex now, he lost many reputation and fans (mainly females) thus causing a fall in revenues.
If no one buys the ticket.. no one will see what he's trying *new* in his concert . Doesn't necessarily boost sales.
