Wednesday October 10, 2007 Hong Kong Today would have been the 44th birthday of late music superstar Anita Mui (梅艷芳) and early this morning, her beloved student Denise Ho (何韻詩) and former manager Wong Wai Man (王慧敏) attended the temple memorial to pay their respects. Denise brought offerings of flowers, drinks and incense for her mentor and stayed for about 15 minutes, chatting to Anita. Asked what she was talking about, Denise said that she wished Anita a happy birthday. As for whether or not she had told her teacher about her achievements, she said that there was no need because she already knows. Dedicated fans from Anita's fan club - Mui Nation (芳心薈) - also paid their respects to the star, presenting her with yellow roses, a bunny lantern and Anita's favourite foods, such as abalone, shark's fin, crabs, beef noodles and cream cake. They also made gold and silver paper taels to burn. The fan club will not be holding the customary vegetarian banquet at the temple this year. Instead, there will be a memorial gathering this evening at a hotel, where they will be auctioning some oil paintings for charity. credits: batgwa.
