It’s been revealed that Hong Kong’s AKB48 fans voted in a separate election at the same time as the 3rd AKB48 Senbatsu General Election held in Japan. The band’s first overseas election collected 1,045 votes from those that bought “Everyday, Kachuusha,” at the Hong Kong AKB48 Official Shop. Perhaps due to the smaller number of votes, the results were vastly different from the Japanese election. While Maeda Atsuko topped both elections, 2nd place went to Watanabe Mayu, who was 5th in Japan. NMB48 Team N’s captain Yamamoto Sayaka, who was 28th in Japan, and Team 4’s Yamauchi Suzuran, who did not place in Japan, were 5th and 7th, respectively, beating out some of the most popular AKB48 members. It’s not yet clear how the results from Hong Kong will be used, although a representative for AKB48 commented, “We are thinking of doing something for the fans in Hong Kong.” Check out the full results below: 01 Maeda Atsuko (Team A) – 156 votes 02 Watanabe Mayu (Team B) – 87 03 Oshima Yuko (Team K) – 84 04 Kashiwagi Yuki (Team B) – 71 05 Yamamoto Sayaka (NMB48 Team N) – 60 06 Takahashi Minami (Team A) – 59 07 Yamauchi Suzuran (Team 4) – 50 08 Kojima Haruna (Team A) – 48 09 Itano Tomomi (Team K) – 47 10 Minegishi Minami (Team K) – 45 – 11 Matsui Rena (SKE48 Team S) – 42 12 Shinoda Mariko (Team A) – 31 12 Fujie Reina (Team K) – 31 14 Sashihara Rino (Team A)- 24 15 Takajo Aki (Team A) – 23 16 Miyazawa Sae (Team K) – 17 17 Kasai Tomomi (Team B) – 16 18 Kitahara Rie (Team B) – 14 19 Matsui Jurina (SKE48, Team S) – 12 20 Miyazaki Miho (Team B) – 9 – 21 Sato Amina (Team B) – 8 21 Masuda Yuka (Team B) – 8 23 Oota Aika (Team A) – 7 24 Kuramochi Asuka (Team A) – 6 24 Komori Mika (Team B) – 6 26 Oya Shizuka (Team A) – 5 27 Sato Sumire (Team B) – 5 28 Nito Moeno (Team K) – 4 28 Chikano Rina (Team B) – 4 28 Kimoto Kanon (SKE48 Team E) – 4 – 31 Iwasa Misaki (Team A) – 3 31 Nakagawa Haruka (Team A) – 3 31 Nakaya Sayaka (Team A) – 3 31 Akimoto Sayaka (Team K) – 3 31 Umeda Ayaka (Team K) – 3 31 Yokoyama Yui (Team K) – 3 31 Ishida Haruka (Team B) – 3 31 Suzuki Maria (Team B) – 3 31 Ichikawa Miori (Team 4) – 3 31 Hata Sawako (SKE48 Team KII) – 3 Source: Tokyohive, Chuunichi Sports
