Okay, I would like to request a tutorial with images [as it's easier to follow]. For the following:

I want to share my films -bigclap, so thinking of ripping a dvd5 [.ISO / Video_TS folder] then post just upload the film itself [dvdrip], but not sure how to.

I read somewhere that converting to an avi format with softsub is the easiest way for beginnersa [like me].

So this is what I think.... join all .vob files then convert .vob to .avi? But not sure about the subtitles, this include all subtitles [idx, srt, sub] soft sub.

    Thanks!

    The_Jelly NSFW? :P

You'll need something like DVDFab to rip the dvd to a Video TS folder. THen using something like Handbrake to convert. If the subs are srt you just need to keep the name identical to that of the film.

Thanks for your reply first. Subtitles would inlude all [Simplified and Traditonal Chinese and English] English subtitle would be .srt. I want to rip all subs.
Have you done this before? Mind to post a tutorial guide for this please. :D

You should visit the site called videohelp. They have a lot of step by step tutorials and free software for that. I always find doing external subs (soft subs) a chore. It doesn't always come out right.

Anyone? Not that I'm loosing out or anything.. but you PA memebers are missing out some classic hkfilms that I can share!! [leslie cheung, lydia sum, andy lau etc]. haha :p

I have looked on videohelp forum before making this thread - but on there, just seems sooo complicated!!

I'm just looking for a really basic step-by-step guide that doesn't take that long to convert and rip!
AVI, around 700MB, just keep the cantonese audio, include soft subs ALL - srt, idx, sub

I don't rip many DVDs and I haven't done so for a long time, but when I did, I used FairUse Wizard. There's probably better software out there, but it's the easiest program I found to use and gave decent results.

The alternative I tried was AutoGK, which is free, but more complicated and gave me some errors. HandBrake is also meant to be pretty good, but you'll have to encode to mp4/mkv, which is better than avi but less compatible with external players.

Here are some step by step guides on using FairUse Wizard (they're all pretty much the same):

There are lots of guides out there for using FairUse Wizard, here are some that are on Youtube:

Sweet. Thanks! This is more like it - easy and simple!
Testing it now. Will reply back if there's any problem or w/e. :D
    Handbrake is indeed complicated!

    No problem :D

I don't know how much help I can be if you run into problems though as I haven't used FairUse Wizard for about 5 years or so -unsure

You're better off asking for specific help over at places like the VideoHelp forum.

Ok, I tried.. and it kept one audio.. which was mandarin, im guessing it choose the first audio track? But really wanted cantonese and subtitles not there.. *sigh* I probably try the handBrake then. Searched and found no solution.
    Thanks anyways.

You should be able to choose which audio track and subtitles you want.

I left as it was 'english' but it came out as mando..
but If i did change it to 'chinese' it would probably still be in mando.. i dunno, :/

but at the moment im using HandBrake, to convert MKV instead.. but I don't really like MKV files.. so probably same with most od the members here too - due to big file.

Im going to try out: Xilisoft DVD Ripper Ultimate too. lol. Outpt avi. haha.

I might make a thread in the request section and make a poll to see which format members like me to rip in. lol.

Got it working now with FairUse Wizard! lol. Just have to play around with it. haha. I got subtitles to be hardcoded. lol.
Now I can rip either MKV or AVI. :D

Just needed to add both off the audio track:

With the subs I just use: VSRip. it's a nice, easy program anyways. =]
