hello, I am having a problem with my router and hosting an online game. I lave a linksys WRT54G. I have already fowarded all the ports. Here is my problem. When I host a game on the internet, people in the lobby can see my game, but if they try to join, it will say unable to join. I check the IP during the game and it says 192.168.1.102:2302, when I have a friend do direct IP using the actual modem IP (the 67.***.***.*** one) they can get in. So it seems the only way to have ppl join is direct IP connection
Nirvania, the alternative that u can do, go to www.no-ip.com, they can register a static address to a dynamic address, so u can signup a nirvania.com, and they just connect to nirvania.com, and it will always redirect to your ip address
I also assume u have a dhcp assigned address on this machine?..if so...either use no ip or assign a static ip to that machine... To assign a static ip, which will make forwarding easier: http://www.portforward.com/networking/static-xp.htm Knoc
ok, I did that, now what? I need to get the game to stop reconizing the static IP, and actually reconize the IP of the modem. Is there a way to fool the computer into thinking a different ip
the game will only see that ip of the local machine....ie..the machine its on (192)...if ur forwarding the ip address correctly...it should forward out to the external ip....192 satatic....forwarded (assuming ur forwarding the ip correctly) to external ip...are u forwarding the ip address correctly and with the proper ports?
yes, I fowarded all the ports to the 192.168.1.102, ppl can reach the server if I give them the external IP, they cant join in the lobby though
-Halo:Combat Evolved -screenshot of fowarding http://img91.imageshack.us/my.php?image=untitled1nv.png -game hosting setting??
here is the in game settings http://img134.imageshack.us/my.php?image=halo200606102117050gu.png http://img134.imageshack.us/my.php?image=halo200606102118053sv.png http://img131.imageshack.us/my.php?image=halo200606102118282kq.png
hmph..so only connect by direct ip...not the local....hmph...is this a ripped or legal ver of halo?..
also, with the wrt54g router...an outdated firmware can cause radom issues on ur network...i'd also suggest u update the routers firmware...
hmph..either a router issue (firmware)..as the forwarding doesnt seem to work...or pc issue....one can explore a dmz..hmph..
