Saitama's serial nudist mugger finally collared KOSHIGAYA, Saitama -- A man arrested Tuesday is suspected of being the mugger who has targeted Saitama area women over the past few years while wearing nothing but a hood covering his face, police said. Masatsugu Fukui, 36, a truck driver from Koshigaya, was arrested for robbery after he allegedly mugged a woman. He admits to the allegation and has hinted in involvement in some of at least 10 incidents in the area since 2005 where a naked man has accosted women on the streets. "It gave me more of a thrill to do it in the nude," Fukui told the police. Police said the specific charge for which Fukui was arrested involved him mugging a 40-something woman in Soka, Saitama Prefecture, early on the morning of April 19. Police said the naked Fukui ran up behind the woman, pounced on her and dragged her into an alley, where he caused her head injuries and stole 2,000 yen in cash from her. Police said Fukui typically targeted people returning home on the day's final train and he lay in wait near train stations to go after stragglers. The investigation into the nude muggings continues.
