This is about an English debate competiton. We won the second round, and the third round will hold on Monday~but still no ideas for the topics. There are 3 topics we need prepare for both sides. 1 The house wants a designated city to permanently host the Olympic Games. 2 The house believes that a woman's place is in the home. 3 The house is convinced that teaching is basically a matter of explaining things properly. I think the third one is harder~~~~~help~~~~thank you~~~
okay im a bit confused with 'the house' part of the topic... explain that and i might be able to help ^^
The house wants a designated city to permanently host the Olympic Games: It should be Olympia, Greece.. In 776 BC the origins of olympics games started in this city, only up until 393 AD did the ancient olympic games stopped. So it is rightfully to have the modern olympic games to be hosted in Olympia to follow its tradition
that not mean choose a city, the city is uncertain, just should agrue the harmful of OG~but i dont have any ideas~
Yea me too. debate eh? I did joined my university debate team few years back and sorry, I'm kinda sucks in debating. Can't help you. Sorry
1. Having a permanent host for the Olympic Games should be in Athens where the first Ancient Olympic games were created from 776 BC to 393 AD. However it has been a tradition for over 365 years that the hosts are for each Olympics are chosen and elected. (Have a search around the internet to find reasons to do more background research of the history. If worse comes to to worse use Wikipedia) 2. Society has always been male dominated, a patriarchal society. Men always worked to bring home the bacon and what not, and women stays at home and takes care of the children and housekeeping. The idea about the men should be the one to provide for the family was a strong ideology and women did not have the skills to do the men's job. However since World War 2, women proved that they could do the men's job whilst the men were at war. They always won the rights to vote (in England, only men were allowed to vote before the World War 2). And as society has progess to this stage, it is more and more accepting that women can also provide the money and security which men could do, as more and more women are moving away from house keeping and going into the world where they can also work. There are laws that keeps sex discrimination away from work which proves that society has moved away from the patriarchal ideology. (This is all based on my personal opinions) 3. Teaching is a way of learning. Whether at school, home, work or even out with your friends. Teachings explains the moral standards that the society has. If we don't understand what is being said, it is explained to us again till we understood what the message is meant, for example in school, you don't understand how to proceed a maths quesiton, you will ask for help and you will get taught by the teacher again. However teachings may be different from culture to culture. You may understand the concept and the morals of your society but you may not understand the teachings and the moral standards of another. For example the Western culture to the Middle Eastern culture. You could arguement it is the matter of religious views or you could jsut say that the culture is different.
for Q3. not only do teachers needa explain properly but also they need to understand the stuff as well and lead by examples. if they just read of the textbook its no use because everyone can do that. they needa explain it properly and then reinforce it with their understandings. if they are convinced teachings is jst a matter of explaining things properly everyone can become teachers coz everyone know how to read all the stuff out from the book. but on the other hand, thats properly the only way they learn. by being taught the basic rules and implying them to problems. there is a basic set of rules for everything so if the teacher explain them clear enough the kids will be fine =] Q2. we dont live in an irrational world. its the 21st century and women's place in society is more than just in the house. they have all the authorities that men has. its an equal society these days... women can work in companys and become high rank orders in the society and stuff. not like before where women are only housewives. however, in some middle eastern countries women are still seen to only have authority in homes. take the american dad's episode where stan and his family goes over to stay in a middle eastern country. all the women cannot go outside unless accompanied by a male. hence showing that male dominated/patriarchal society still exist in the 21st century. Q1. personally i think having a permanent host city is not enough to carry out the message that the 'game' is a worldwide event and to carry out the five continents on the ring. does not show the various cultures across the continents. and also people will easily lose interest in the game if its in the same city every 4years. there is only one culture involved in bringing the games alive (despite having different countries coming in to participate). however like someone said above it was a tradition that it was held in the same place and should keep the tradition to hold it in the same place. economically it would save money as well coz u dont needa make new stadiums every time just need to rennovate it to make it looks different. hope thats okay... coming from someone that sucks at english LMAO so dont expect too much
can u help me think some question that let them cant answer easily.you know.we have to put question to opponent~~~both sides~thank you~
