For the first time in her acting career, 33-year-old Sharon Chan (陳敏之) portrays a tough gun-slinging policewoman in the legal drama, Friendly Fire <法網狙擊>. Sharon revealed that she broke down in tears after filming the gun-firing scenes due to having phonophobia (fear of sudden loud noises) since childhood when her cousin popped a balloon directly next to her ear. Not knowing that she would be carrying real guns, Sharon was sweating profusely during filming. Sharon understood that the producers, Tommy Leung (梁家樹) and Man Wei Hung (文偉鴻) spent much time preparing the firing scene and finding a stunt double to shoot the gun firing scenes would be an inconvenience for everyone in the set. Therefore, she had to bite the bullet and hide her fears to get through the scenes. Sharon explained, “I wore swimming ear-plugs and imagined myself saving my mother so I was able to get deep into the character. I was still firing my guns even after the producer said to stop filming.” Afterwards, Sharon cried profusely and everyone cheered and clapped their hands for her courage. After this filming experience, Sharon has finally overcome a childhood trauma she has been dealing with for over 30 years. Another challenge Sharon had to face was portraying a mother for the first time in the drama. Luckily, she had a nice boy portray her son, and the filming went smoothly without any delays. Sharon loves children and wants to have her own in the future. That was the reason she found it very cruel to coax the young actor to cry during filming. Afterwards, Sharon expressed her sentiment of not allowing her own child to become an actor. With her strong desire to have children, Sharon has plans to marry her long-time boyfriend in the future.
