Last year, Stephen Chan (陳志雲) was at Olympian City to hold a promotional event for his new book, Stephen 14.2 Preferred Choice (tentative title)《志雲14.2首選》. Under a situation where he allegedly did not disclose that a sponsorship fee has been given, he invited artistes Wayne Lai (黎耀祥), Charmaine Sheh (佘詩曼), Tavia Yeung (楊怡), Shirley Yeung (楊思琦), Sharon Chan (陳敏之), Skye Chan (陳倩揚) and etc to attend that event for free. As a result, Stephen was suspected to be in cahoots with the director of Idea Empire Advertising and Production Company, Edthancy Tseng (叢培崑), and had allegedly concealed the existence of a sponsorship fee. Yesterday, the judge of the lawsuit pronounced Stephen Chan as being not guilty of the bribery and fraud charges. Shirley Yeung, Wayne Lai, Charmaine Sheh, Sharon Chan and etc who had a part in attending the book promotion on that fateful day, all felt rather happy upon knowing that Stephen Chan was pronounced not guilty and has been acquitted. Wayne Lai happy for Stephen Chan, looks forward to the next season of “Be My Guest” After learning that Stephen Chan was acquitted of all charges yesterday, Wayne Lai said, “I feel happy for Mr Chan, safe and sound now! He is a very talented man who had worked hard for TVB for many years now. I don’t know whether my statement to court was favorable to him but I believe in the court’s verdict.” Asked whether he had contacted Stephen Chan, Wayne professed that privately, he wasn’t on familiar terms with Stephen and only communicated with him over work-related matters. However, if he was to bump into Stephen someday, he would definitely ask after Stephen and congratulate him personally. When asked about whether he was looking forward to another season of Be My Guest《志雲飯局》hosted by Stephen, Wayne replied, “Looking forward! Because Mr Chan hosted it well, such that it was so good to watch. I have always admired him, whether it was his restrain even though he is a General Manager (Wayne probably meant being modest and humble) or his identity as a performer as he had created many good programs.” Charmaine Sheh heaves a sigh of relief After learning that Stephen was not pronounced guilty and has been released of all charges, Shirley Yeung responded, “Very happy, congratulations to Mr Chan! The investigation and the hearings took a relatively long time, many friends and colleagues were concerned about his news and only heaved a sigh of relief after knowing the final verdict. Very happy!” Asked whether she was on better terms with Stephen Chan or Virginia Lok (樂易玲), Shirley’s face went embarrassed and said, “Both of them are very good. Please don’t make things difficult for a small employee like me.” Asked whether she would clarify with the company first if Stephen were to invite her to another event again in the future, Shirley responded, “No problem if the company asks me to attend. What if he personally invites me? I don’t think there will be! Actually, every time before attending an event, I will always ask for the content and the theme of the event. If Mr Chan invites me, I will attend it.” Charmaine Sheh who had earlier on declared that she didn’t wish to attend events for free in her statement to court, expressed yesterday, “Knowing that Manager Chan is okay, everyone heaved a sigh of relief, I feel happy for him!” Louis Yuen uploads a picture of a colored cloud; Sharon Chan excited Louis Yuen (阮兆祥) uploaded a picture of a pink cloud in the form of a heart shape onto Weibo and typed, “Heard a piece of good news upon waking up. Stephen (Chan), hope you would recollect your feelings and have a brand new start, bless that everything will be good for you!” Upon seeing Louis Yuen’s tweet, Sharon Chan immediately replied to it, “Thank God! Thank God! This is really great! A day that makes one feel emotional and excited!” Sharon later accepted a telephone interview and said, “I feel happy for him, I’m also very excited! Actually I have always been worried hence I had always prayed for him and he’s alright now!” Hacken Lee asks Manager Chan to give a treat Hacken Lee (李克勤) expressed that he feels happy for Stephen Chan and said, “I will ask him to give a dinner treat.” Asked whether he would discuss with Stephen about returning back to film for TVB at the same time, Hacken responded, “This isn’t some topic a “paper tiger” like me can discuss about, I shall leave it to my company to discuss! Although we (Stephen Chan and him) don’t have diplomatic ties as we work for different companies, it doesn’t mean that we aren’t friends. We do contact each other privately. Stephen Chan’s really very eloquent. It would be good if he could host another program again. But Stephen’s so smart, I’m sure he already made some plans and mapped up something already lahs!” Joey Yung (容祖兒) also commented on Stephen Chan’s acquittal, “A huge congratulations to Mr Chan. This matter has finally come to an end. Hope that he will throw himself into work as soon as possible and get back on track. I hope to ask him out for dinner to celebrate!”
