Saturday, March 10, 2007 Taiwan Shooting will start on Taiwan pop star Jay Chou's new movie "Slam Dunk" in Shanghai on Sunday. Hong Kong pop star Charlene Choi will team up with Jay to play a couple in this light comedy, which is centered around basketball. The producers wanted NBA Basketball star Yao Ming to play a role in the movie but his recent injury has made the chances of this uncertain. "Slam Dunk" will feature a plot similar to "Shaolin Soccer", which starred Stephen Chow. The heroes of both movies are good at their respective games and highly trained in Chinese martial arts. The movie will be aired in 2008. It's the year the Olympics will be held in Beijing, so producers and distributors are placing a lot of emphasis on movies with sports themes. Other well-known actors like Berlin Chan, Eric Tsang and Jacky Wu will also appear in the movie. credits: crienglish, asianfanatics.
It would be funny to see Jay Chou in a comedy.. I think he has such a serious look/expression on his face.. And it would def have been a plus if Yao had a cameo in the film.. too bad for his recent injury..
