Hi guys, the time to go to NY is arriving fast (see previous thread). Can you guys help me by recommending places to shop and eat in NY ? ... which is the only thing we do during a vacation ... ok, since we are not alone anymore, maybe if you can also recommend some nice events which we can visit with our 1 year old daughter ? We will be staying in Chinatown for a week (East Broadway, Lower Manhattan).

    So to summarize:
    - Shopping malls (that might cover all of the rest).
    - Places that sell electronics (most importantly PC stuff).
    - Places that sell adult and children clothing at a good price (no need for designer clothing, we won't fit in them anyway -lol).
    - Places that sell house articles (home stores ... like at JC Pennys ???).
    - Christmas events or any other events to visit (if any) with the little one.
    - Affordable restaurants (so no restaurants with Michelin stars where we leave with an empty stomach). On a similar note, is there something similar to Rainforest Cafe in NY ? I think the little one would love that.

Oh oh, if we want to ship some of the stuff that we bought back to Holland, the cheapest place would be via the regular post office (USPS) ?:)

Go to Madison Square Garden and buy a shack burger. It's soooooo gooooooooooood.

Also there are a ton of good clothing stores around west broadway. A lot of the designer stuff is there, but I'm pretty sure there are still more affordable stores if you look around lol.

shopping i suggest 34st in manhattan the main tourest attraction but really really crowded. or u can try soho near chinatown which is less crowded then 34st. and i guess u can take ur daughter the new amusement park in coney island in brooklyn. for restaurants i don't really know any good restaurants. but there's a place that has some good asian food such as jap and korean food at st. marks pl (saint marks place). as for electronics u can try best buy that sells electronics.

Oh lord!!! I can see me already with a few of those burgers in my hands and stomach (obviously) !!!! Assuming you mean this one:

The only thing that worries me a bit are those long rows of people. I hope in winter it's a bit more quiet. Excellent tip though! I'll add it to my must eat list -tongue2

Yeah, I think I'll be looking around for more affordable clothes. Need to save some money for those burgers ... lol.

Great suggestions, thanks! Well again hopefully in winter it's not too crowded, we will see. As for the saint marks place, found it: http://www.pnelsoncomposer.com/guides/stmarks/ShowCat.php?catid=16 . Oh yeah, Best Buy ... how can I forget ? ... I believe Office Depot was the other one ? ... need to check where they are located in NY.

yea there's not many good and cheap electronics stores in new york. well not that i know of. i mostly buy my electronic stuff online so yea. plus on the other side there's some small shops that sell a lot of electronics but i don't know if they're legit and stuff. i just remember there's a big j and r store near city hall in manhattan. the store itself takes up 1 block so u can probably check that out http://www.yelp.com/biz/j-and-r-music-and-computer-world-new-york-2

If you're a shoe buff then you should still take a good look around West Broadway. You can get some really nice shoes for 40-100 bucks.

And yes I meant the Shake Shack. Make sure to buy more than one, cause they tease you with the small size. There's also this really good sandwich place I went to, but I have no idea what the name of it is, cause I was just following my friend while he led us around lol. You should also check out K-town if you're into korean food. There's a lot of good korean restaurants there.

Yeah, that would be ideal ... any suggestions ?

Well about the shoes, not me ... but the wife. Any ideas where to get cheap UGGs ?

Waw, didn't even know there was a Koreatown. What's next ? ... Japantown ? We definitely do like Korean food ! So we will be visiting that area as well.

St. Marks Pl would be consider Little Tokyo cause they do have more Japanese restaurants then Korean

As for outlets you can go to Woodburry Common Outlet in New Jersey (if I remember only 2 or 3 hours bus ride) all you have to do is go to the Port Authority on 42nd St. but you have to pay like 42 for adult and 21 for child, since your daughter is 1 years old I don't think she has to pay anything and you don't have to buy the tickets in advance, its on the spot and accepts credit cards. Also they will give you 10 dollar coupon book.

You can check here for more details for the travel package http://www.newyorksightseeing.com/tourpage.php?item=WC and here for the outlet information http://www.premiumoutlets.com/outlets/directions.asp?id=7

UGGs, I dont' know where to buy cheap ones, been looking for my mom sis and my gf and can't seem to find any cheap ones.
