Hi, I actually have 2 problems that are related to each other...kind of. First of all my computer specs: HP Pavillion M8330F AMD Phenom 9500 Quad Core Processor 3 Gigs Ram NVIDIA GeForce 8500 GT Windows Vista Home Premium Problem #1 Okay, so ever since I got my PC, I have noticed that the boot times aren't so great. Now I'm not talking about the time it takes to load into the desktop, i'm talking about when it's booting and you see that GREEN PROGRESS BAR that scrolls over and over again. It takes about 30 times of scrolling before it gets into the desktop. When it gets to the desktop, it's pretty much instant load. But I'm just concerned about the 30 times of scrolling, because most of the boot time is stuck there. When I used a little tool to see how low my pc takes to boot, it took 106 seconds, which is very very long, considering 2 things: 1.) My computer should be able to handle vista well 2.) I just got it in the month of May 2008 3.) I do not have a lot of programs I constantly clear temporary files, defragment my hard drive, and clean the registry. There is only 1 program that is on my startup list for windows, which is my antivirus, Kaspersky. The rest is the network icon, and the sound icon. I have also tried to use that MSCONFIG tool which increases the cores when it boots, but it's no use. Does not make a difference. And, the saddest thing is that my old acer desktop takes only 9 scrolls to load windows....:( But of course the performance is terrible. I just do not understand......The only thing I noticed was that it took a little longer to load after I installed SP1, However my acer has sp1 as well. So is there any way I can make it faster? Because I think with these specs my PC should start up within 1 minute. Problem #2 Okay so about the HP Bios. It appears to be much more basic than the ACER bios. Acer seems to have more features to mess around with. But HP seems to have only the bare bones....like I read on some tech forum that you could enable this POST thing that skips the unecessary tests....I saw on my ACER bios that it had this feature, called "Quick Power on Self Test". I tried looking on my HP BIOS, but guess what? Not there. :( So I'm thinking this may be one of the reasons why. Oh and here is my bios thingy...I dunno what it's called i just puleed it off the HP page for my computer M2N68-LA Motherboard Bios Thanks, and i'm looking forward to your responses!
