AKB48’s third Senbatsu General Election for their 22nd single is finally going to happen on June 9th, and Sony Livespire is going to deliver it live in over 70 cinemas across the nation. Twenty-one members will be chosen by fan votes to be on the Senbatsu team and become the faces of their new single. Year after year, the election ceremony has increased in its scope, and so they were forced to change to a bigger venue this year, the Nippon Budokan. Just like last year, Livespire is going to broadcast the election live in various cinemas across the nation, but the number of screenings also doubled to around 70~80 (no final number yet). — As announced last month, AKB48 will be having a revival set list of their previous theater stages, each day with a different stage performed by AKB48’s Team A, K, and B, as well as SKE48’s Team S and SDN48. Livespire is also going to broadcast this special event, called “Minogashita Kimi-tachi he” ~ AKB48 Group Zenkouen~“, that will start on May 24th. From that day on, fans will be able to watch one of the 19 concerts every day live from the cinema until June 12th, except for the day of the election on June 9th. 19 concerts in 20 days is the longest consecutive live broadcast that has ever been done in Japanese cinemas.
