does anyone know how speed cameras work?
it flashed at me.. but i dont know what will happen.

    story:
i was driving along the road and saw a friend at the side.. (no cars were behind me) so i reversed to park behind them and it flashed... -_-"
i was about 10 m in front when i decided to reverse... so i had to reverse maybe 10-15m... maybe reversing up to 20km/h?
so does anyone know wat will happen?
    im scared. -shock
its a speed camera in new south wales.(australia)

depends what type of camera it is and the speed restriction on that road

did you break the speed restriction on the road?
If yes, then prepare for some kind of fine/points or however they deal with it in Australia, if you didnt break any speed restriction you have nothing to worry about.

See if that helps.. If you were driving under the speed limit (assuming the speed limit isn't lower then 50 or 60 km/h... It doesn't make sense; Unless it was flashing at another car in another lane? Or across the road?

i was under the speed limit.. but i was goin the wrong way down the road... i started to reverse down the road.. so do they pick it up as -20km/h? lol

@mr_evolution: just side of road parking... not a carpark

    like this.. lol

for the non australians we drive on the left side of the road.

well they might fin you for reversing but def not for going over the speed limit. it does depend on how nice they are i guess. but rele it shouldn't have flashed if u were under the speed limit so i think that the speed camera is faulty anyway. either that or they may have been testing the flash and there was no film in it. happens sometimes. i guess all u can do is wait and find out.

From the looks of that picture, the camera is kinda too far from your car. Are you sure you didnt see the camera flash at another car? It looks like the camera is at the other lane. I also expect to see the camera at the bottom of the picture (near the blue arrow)

its in front of a school zone. in wollongong. pretty sure it flashes for both sides. cos there's lines on the road like calbration line things. is it possible to say i was reversing to park behind their car? *-) ...
i think it might be a feature to capture ppl that avoid the camera by driving on the opposite side of road to avoid the camera. if they look at the photo i hope it just looks like they have a faulty camera and the car was going forwards when it took the photo.

don't worry mate. you should be fine.

was that a parked car camera ? or a fixed camera? to my knowledge parked car cameras doesn't flash the cars on the other side of the road and you wasn't speeding.

Are you sure it wasn't a red light camera? or something similar that requires you to stop or something?

I heard you can outrun speed cameras, but you have to be going about 280kph, lol

  18. if your going backwards when your not meant to then youll be fined

  19. yeah.... but how would you pick up that kind of speed?

and it should be fine.... i dont think you would get a speeding fine
