According to statements from the official Star Trek website, a new TV series will soon be heading our way for 2017. It has been planned to come after the show's 50th anniversary in 2016 and is said to "introduce new characters that will be seeking new worlds and new civilisation." CBS Television Studios are planning to air the reboot in early 2017, David Stapf, president of CBS Television Studios, stated: "There is no better time to give Star Trek fans a new series than on the heels of the original show’s 50th anniversary celebration. Everyone here has great respect for this storied franchise, and we’re excited to launch its next television chapter." Alex Kurtzman, who co-produced the films Star Trek (2009) and Star Trek Into Darkness (2013), will serve as executive producer for the TV series. The first episode will broadcast on CBS with subsequent episodes available exclusively in the US on the network’s digital subscription video on demand and live streaming service All Access. There are two more films soon to be released - Star Trek Beyond (2016) and Star Trek 4 (2019) however it won't be connected to the storyline of the TV reboot. ~~~ cred: StarTrek/Metro
Just realized CBS is in the "rebooting" stage. Although their reboot of Hawaii 5-0 is good, now this and Mcgyver...that'll be 3 that they have. What other reboots are there that's on prime time?
