Wednesday September 26, 2007 Hong Kong Hong Kong actor-turned-director Stephen Chow's latest fantasy film "CJ7" finally set its screening date on January 31 of next year. Film investor, the China Film Group Corporation, announced the decision, according to The Beijing News report. Agent of the comedy star says that Stephen Chow is still busy editing the film, which he has been working on for about a year. He explains that fantasy film is a new field for Chow and he has to put in a lot of time on the post-editing. The emphasis of the director's work is the stunts, according to the publicist, however, the selling point of the film is the story itself, as story-telling is just Chow's forte. Just as in his other films, Stephen Chow plays a small potato in this film. The poor father, stared by Chow, has a son whom he loves deeply. And they meet a kindly teacher, who is actually an alien. Shooting of the film was concluded last year and it was once scheduled to be put on screen during this summer vacation. credits: asianpopcorn.
from the picture i thought it was something like the pursuit of happyness but they mentioned alien, want to see this cause stephen chow's in it though.
Not a big fan of his ONE movie every three years it seems, maybe if he toned down on the special affects, he could churn out movies on a more regular basis
that's so cool, i think stephen chow is very talented not only in comedy films but also dramatic ones!
I don't know how many of you actually follow him but I think Hong Kong cinema has been crap. The films they put out are obviously poorly written, directed, and produced. But with Stephen, his career, and his exposure I am glad he made some noise in the USA. However, I think this 'drama' and 'award-attempting' film has got to stop. Much like Aaron Kwok's one with the poor kid, 2046 and all that artistic film. It seems like they are trying way too hard. We all know Stephen was prime and the funniest comedian to break barriers. It's odd, and he should stop doing this type of stuff. Yeah, I'm a fan of his gruesome comedies.
The above sentence got me laughing, as it gave me the impression that Stephen Chow has been playing small potatoes in each and every single one of his films. I'm quite sure the term "small potato" was mis-interpreted or incorrectly translated in the source. Jokes aside, I wonder how the fantasy element would come in for this film. Stephen Chow's self-directed films, Shaolin Soccer and Kungfu Hustle, had a strong element of martial arts combined with special effects. Are we going to see a sparring alien? Or one decked in football kit? Or perhaps, the alien ship zaps a potato field accidentally and Stephen Chow becomes a human... ;;
i'll be surprised if it's not a comedy...but the pic doesn't have the slightest comedic element in it lol
