Translated for you from http://defimedia.info/ (Web version of a newspaper in Mauritius) Another scandal has disturbed the running of the Cambridge Higher School Certificate exams. Paper leaks have been discovered for the following subjects: Physics(Paper 2), Mathematics and Chemistry. Many students have had access to the site facebook(in the group blackpapers) where discussions about these papers have been held. This blog/website, has been visited by hundreds of Mauritian students, who discussed the paper with students from Pakistan, Malaysia and New Zealand. This morning, they were quite surprised (and happy I guess) to see the questions discussed the day before in front of them in the exams room. The Mauritius Examination Syndicate(MES, a body responsible for exams in Mauritius) are in deep trouble. Lucien Finette ( The Director of this institution) has called an urgent meeting with his officers and a committee has been set up to find solution to this problem and make sure that students are not penalized. He said, I quote “We have informed Cambridge about the situation after gathering all the evidences about this leak” on a private radio, Radio Plus. Lucien Finette has received in his office, students from a prestigious college from the Capital, i.e Port Louis. (May be it is the Royal College of Port Louis, considered a star school in Mauritius ). Mr Finette has asked the authorities to react before its too late, and that the students doesn’t suffer from this prejudice. On the other hand, The Minister of Education is following this matter closely, and waiting on the conclusions of the enquiry set up by MES. “We will do our best to protect the students” said Vasant Bunwaree, Minister of Education. Yoven, a student taking the HSC exams : “A friend sent me a message on Facebook. We discussed the paper the day before and on exams day, I realized that the question paper were same”
Yah, I think it happened acouple years ago. Forgot which school it was. It was all over the news I believe.
yea the toronto incident was pretty recent. it happened at ryerson university. i forgot what happened to the students though.
no way you're gonna get caught,i mean i'm the only mauritian here btw you're talking about your exams?not cie a-level?
Ryerson University first year student made a study group then the guy failed and went to court and like got suspended. i think he got banned.
no .. i don't think so ..the last time i read he was on probation and got an F for the class. personally, i believe the professor is way overreacting for that case.
there were only one student who cheated? but here,it's hundreds of students who had accessed to it and in mauritius the students compete for scholarships.Usually, the best students get to lose their scholarship because of 1,2 or 0.5 marks. so it can't be taken lightly
