In an action that can only be described as lowest of the low, the Chinese government is now pressuring lawyers representing the scandal affected babies (sickened by melamine tainted milk) to stop pursuit of those cases. In other words, if the lawyers don't get involved many of these poor and uneducated parents of rural victims would hopefully just go away; that is apparently the intent of the PRC government. Like I've stated many times, the Chinese people are the ones who suffer under Chinese Communist Party rule. No amount of red flag waving, whether in the Olympics or in outer space, is going to change that unless the party itself changes. In a rush? For a quick synopsis, just read the red highlighted lines. Instead of solving the malfeasance, I guess it's just easier to shoot the messenger. How typical of the PRC.
the Chinese government will always help the side the benefit them the most. which is the milk companies that pay more tax and shit like that.
the government is ridiculous using this form of "fixing" the problem only will reflect upon china as a whole
Kraft Foods, the maker of Oreo branded cookies, denied the reports. However, a lot of net buzz insisted that Oreos were also contaminated: http://www.iht.com/articles/ap/2008/09/26/business/AS-China-Tainted-Milk-Quality-Control.php
I don't feel shame at being Chinese; let's not forget that the bulk of the victims are Chinese. I feel anger at the PRC government for the pervasive corruption that allows for such things to happen in the first place. Now that things are making them look bad, they decide to use political pressure or fear of reprisals against people trying to help.
